"This is listed as a 4 star hotel, no chance it is a 2 star at best. Room was filthy with thick dust everywhere, tea stains on the door and walls. Carpets up the stairs was filthy. Only 1 tea bag and 1 coffee sachet. The room was no more than a glorified cupboard. Black mould in the bathroom. I arranged to take my dog, but when I arrived they said no, then when I paid I was told it wasn't included. Luckily I had my email to show what I booked, so sorted that out. "For the money paid this was adequate. One or two nights in the small twin room is all I could manage as it is so small with no storage space only a narrow shelf and small desk with the tea facilities on. The shower/toilet was really clean but so small. No good for larger visitors. The flooring and edging around the room is rough and a little dirty HOWEVER, it was in a perfect spot and the staff were lovely and helpful and I slept really well. So for a budget stay this was fine. "

Southern Tip of the Saxon Burh, Burpham The trees line the sides of the former Saxon hill fort built around the time of Alfred the Great to defend against Viking incursions. Many burhs became local boroughs, centres of administration, however the one at Burpham was superseded by Arundel to the west. The water course is a small tributary of the Arun that feeds the villages of Burpham and Wepham.
