"Grand old hotel in need of a bit of TLC. Lots of stairs up to reception and from reception to first floor room. Anyone with limited mobility should ask for a room near reception. Staff were nice and very helpful."

"Booked an executive king room and was put into room 441. The Bathroom was amazing and large but our room itself was very small for an executive room so was slightly disappointed by that. The hotel is very clean, staff lovely and would return. "

"The property was lovely. Original and charming. Reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Right opposite the station. We parked in the station car park as the hotel one was full. It was £8 for the 18 hours we were there. Good value for Newcastle. We booked one of the small standard doubles. It is what is says - small. It was clean and quieter than expected. Ok for a night but in future we would book a bigger room. Nice for a one night stay "

"We had a spa day which was fabulous and then stayed over. We chose to eat in Charcoa restaurant on the evening. I ordered mince and dumplings and my friend Salmon. The food had obviously been there for sometime. Both meals were cold as were the vegetables. We sent them back and ordered a pizza which was cooked fresh. Everything else about the stay including breakfast was very good."

"The hotel is really high quality. The rooms are a great size with all the amenities and great bathrooms. The bus into the city centre is right outside and it’s about 10 minutes to the metro station. Would definitely stay here agsin"

"Lovely hotel, nice and clean with very friendly staff, however if you're looking for a good nights sleep, don't expect this on a Saturday night as music was playing until at least 1am and the pillows are very uncomfy! "

"This was a delightful 3-star hotel which gets 5 stars from me in that category. The lovely warm hospitality started upon my check-in. Shout out to Michael for his warm welcome, extremely friendly and welcoming. All his colleagues, the whole team, were really nice too. "Pretty good overall. Breakfast especially good and room comfortable. Main downside was the bathroom which looked old and tatty especially the silicone sealant. Toilet constantly running. Sink tap constantly leaking from handle and occasionally making a loud vibrating noise which could also be heard coming from other rooms. Shower good though. But liquid soap and shampoo poor quality and nozzles don't screw properly into bottles and don't pump properly. No sound proofing against corridor noise...

"Brilliant Spa facilities; probably the best of all the hotels I stay in Bedroom lighting appalling; impossible to do any paperwork in the evening. Needs at least a standard lamp near the desk. Unfortunately the sink waste & hot tap didn't work & couldn't be fixed until the following day. "
