"A Wonderful Birthday Getaway! We had an amazing stay during our ladies trip to celebrate my birthday. I came with my 87-year-old grandmother and my mom, and we stayed in Room 101, which had a fantastic view of Zihuatanejo Bay. The room was comfortable, and the AC worked so well we actually had to turn it off—it got that cold! Guadalupe was always around, making sure everything was running smoothly, which we really appreciated. Christiano, Jessica, and Juanita took great care of us during breakfast. Their warm and friendly service made our stay even more special. We booked the breakfast package and loved the variety it offered each morning. The pool was very clean and relaxing, and the views from both the pool and our room were absolutely breathtaking. We also tried the massages they offer—so worth it! Great service at a very reasonable price. The walk to Playa Madera from the hotel is really nice too, offering easy beach access and more beautiful views along the way. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful, scenic, and welcoming getaway. We’ll definitely be back!"

"We liked that it was right next to a market. Though busy during the day it was fairly quiet. Plus the market closes at 7pm, so it gets very quiet at a decent time. Staff was very friendly and gave great food recommendations. Our room was adorable and exactly what I'd hoped for when booking. P.S. tell Misha (the resident kitty) we say Hi."

"Based on the price, I thought this hotel was too good to be true. Don't believe it. The location is perfect, with the beach right out your door. The grounds are clean and well-kept. They provide beach towels (make sure you hang on to them to return at the end of your stay), and water coolers are throughout the property. Multiple restaurants are within walking distance. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to be back!"

"This is our third stay over about twenty years at Aura del Mar. This place is heaven. The staff is excellent; the grounds are stunning. If you love Mexican art/architecture/colors, this place is for you. The rooms all face the sea and the views are magical. The staff hooks you up with reservations at the good restaurants, and there’s a taxi stand at the bottom of the hill so taxies are there within 2-3 minutes, ready to whisk you around the bay. The beach is calm and the sand is lovely. We usually go to Sayulita, which we’ve loved for many years, but now stay away during Christmas and Spring break because it’s packed. Zihuatenejo beach is super uncrowded, even on Spring break week. Give this place a try—if you like old school Mexican charm, you won’t be disappointed. "

"Property is out of the tourist area but in a safe and quiet location. Restaurant on site and beach front as well. We were able to check in early which was nice."

"Although it is an older property, the first hotel to open in the area from what we are told, it was very clean and comfortable. Yes there are a lot of stairs but it wasnt so bad and you get used to it after a couple days. There are many trees and plants along the walkways and to the paths to the pool and beach. It has scenic views and the staff is very friendly and also helpful. We asked the beat and cheapest way to get into town and they offered us good recommendations. We would definitely come back here again and refer friends as well. Thank you Catalina Beach Resort!"

"Absolutely beautiful. The room was spotless, the view magnificent, the whole hotel was unique, and the breakfast was "to die for." I was only there one night, but my best night in Zih: not bothered by bugs at night!! I will go back for sure. And take other people there for breakfast. The owner is a chef from France and his employee Paola has worked there thirty years, for past owners as well. So glad I ended up there by accident because my brother-in-law goofed about the day he was arriving!! Never would have known it was there."
