"We wanted some where easy to find within reach of friends that we were visiting. On arrival we were treated very well, friendly and professional. We were recommended several places to eat . The room very clean and everything worked. One mattress was not too comfortable but we turned it and all was fine. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and we had our fill.. strange to think this once stood alongside The Great North Road in it's heyday.. this is not cheap its great value for money and has much to recommend it."

All finished off by nice meal in the evening and a fabulous breakfast next morning. With all the history of the hotel with stunning grounds it makes the stay extra special ."
