"We have stayed in many hotels around the world and this would be up there with the best of the best! The rooms were spacious, the decor fitting for the era of the original building, the rooms were well appointed, the food was excellent, and the service was fabulous. Highly recommended if you are a fussy traveller!"

"Very impressive entrance. The whole castle vibe starts at the entrance iron gates and the sentry box. Narrow country laneway winds around the castle to the Lodge accommodation passing car parks and gardens. Be mindful of buses and cars coming the other way. Met by reception as we tried to locate a car park space near the Lodge. Low key reception check in space. Friendly reception manager provided all the information we needed to know accompanied with a map and the information that had been spoken in print, then showed us to our room. First impact, the outstanding natural imagery outside the large window. Period style furnishings and modern bathroom with heated flooring (love the tartan wallpaper, on top half of wall, adds to the overall effect) Dined in the castle with a guided tour after our meal. A very special experience."

"We were delayed and knew we would be arriving late so I called ahead and the manager was super helpful and arranged to leave the key and milk for us. She was also appreciate of the notice. The room was so toasty warm. TVs in all the rooms which my boys loved. Very clean and everything you could need. "

"Excellent value and quality motel. Some motels in NZ can be substandard, so this was a pleasant surprise. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and the motel is very conveniently located in the centre of Dunedin."

"Good value a very spacious unit with separate bedroom and comfortable bed. Nice decor and had everything we needed. Husband loved both sky movies and sport on the TV. A few choices for eating within walking distance. Off the main road and easy to find. Parking available but a little tight for bigger vehicles. Would stay again "
