Attentive and friendly waitstaff at dinner (suggested wines to pair with each course) and breakfasts. Hiked up the hill to even better views on their vineyard roads, drove to Pinhão for the 2-hr boat cruise to Tua, a Miradouro and wine tasting above Pinhão, also close to Sandeman’s Quinta do Seixo for old tawny tasting and to Quinta do Tedo for Bistro Terrace dinner."

"Our stay at the hotel was great ,the staff were very approachable and could not help enough. We had meals in the restaurant on both nights and the food was excellent. Must mention our waiter on both nights he was excellent his Name was Samuel great character. The hotel is a great location if you're traveling down from santander to the algarve for a stop over. "

"A good hotel in a small town close to stunning scenery, including the Douro river valley which is within easy reach by car. Many scenic routes twisting and turning through the mountains, with tiny village houses clinging to the mountainside. I stopped my car to take photos of the morning mist filling the valley floor, with the mountains rising high above. There are monasteries and convents to visit, all centuries old. There is a safe in the room, but otherwise the room is spartan and basic - for example no rugs on the floor in the bedroom. Breakfast is fine with a good choice of food. The female staff were friendly and welcoming, only the male receptionist in his 40s wasn't terribly friendly."

Communication of exactly what to expect would he beneficial in choosing this place. We left anbhour after arriving, because we were both so uncomfortable "
