"Great little Boutique hotel. Outside the walls of the old city but an easy and short walk into town.Street parking is plentiful. Hotel is clean, upgraded, with quirky decorating that is tasteful. Rooms are small but well appointed. Staff was extremely nice, professional and accommodating . Be aware no elevator. Loved San Quirico d’Orcia. Smaller mountaintop town, highly walkable , not overrun by tourists but the same charm, history and leisure options as the larger towns in Tuscany."

"What an adorable and beautiful place! It provided the perfect ambience for relaxing and recharging after a 4 week long trip around Tuscany. The place is comfortable, peaceful and the breakfast is magnificent! Everybody we interacted with was kind, sweet and welcoming. Excellent location for exploring the Val D'Orcia. We would love to return many times!!"

"This is the most horrible property we have ever experienced. This place should be closed down and inspected by authorities. There was no one on the property to check us in, we never received any codes for our rooms, no communication was forwarded to us prior to check in, got locked in once we entered the gate as we did not have a code to get out. The contact telephone number was out of service. Once we contacted Expedia, even they were left speechless and struggled to help us to get out. All in all, we were frightened as there was no one there to help us. It was dark in a middle of a field with wild animals making sound usWith Gods grace we found a pamphlet on a ground that had some hotel information, and a code for the gate. Thankful we did not have to call the police and were able to leave at 11 pm. There was no other hotels available in the area that had availability so we had to drive back to Florence to our original hotel. Our trip got altered, we didn’t get to go to the hot springs and lost our tickets for the spa as we were way to tired (getting in to our original hotel in Florence at 2 am) travel back the next day. The most upsetting thing was, that our parents who are 76 and 80 had to stay in bed next day to recover from this ordeal. We truly hope that this property gets investigated so that no one else has to experience what we did. Our over all vacation ended up not being what we wanted and we came back home with a very bad image of that part of Italy. "

"We loved our stay at hotel dei Capitani, would highly recommend. Montalcino is famous for truffles, wild boar, wine, and beautiful views, especially from this hotel. It is on top of a mountain and in the country so you can expect to see bugs in your room like spiders, mosquitos, stink bugs, but they are mostly all harmless and more of a nuisance than anything. When looking for food to eat I recommend “Il Moro SNC di pellegrini Alessandro”, extremely clean kitchen, family run, delicious homemade local food. Don’t trust any of the restaurants hours posted on their websites, the city pretty much closes down once it’s past 8:30 you’ll have a hard time getting food anywhere. Also, the roads are very tight so if you are driving a car I recommend something small. Walking on the walls of the castle was another great highlight of the trip. If you want to visit any wineries make reservations ahead of time. Again, can’t recommend it enough! And thanks to the hotel staff for being so welcoming, hospitable and helpful with recommendations. We loved the whole experience. "

Great place for a large group

"Beautiful property located outside of a quaint town. Property was spotless. Furniture was warn but gave a very authentic vibe. If you’re considering this property think of it as two separate homes in one building. Each floor had bedrooms, bathrooms, living spaces and kitchens. The separate building with gym, laundry and sauna was fantastic. Home is in the countryside so expect bugs. Kept us from keeping windows open. Owner and property manager were extremely responsive and helpful with questions and recommendations. We didn’t use the pool due to weather but it was lovely and enticing. The water pressure and hot water was amazing! Just keep in mind that 2 of the 7 bathrooms did not have showers, only tubs. Home was 30-90min drive time to most local attractions. One of the best meals we had was from a little restaurant right down the street. Only complaint from the group was that the house was humid and the A/Cs in some of the rooms struggled to keep the rooms as cool as they wanted. But we’re from Florida and used to very cold and strong air conditioning. Loved our stay. "

Stunning

"We loved this place. It was difficult to find at first but once there, it was lovely. The property is incredibly beautiful and the room was espacious and very clean. Who doesn't want to wake up with a view of the Toscana. We went for dinner at a town 10 min away called San Quirico and it was stuning. It was a shame our trip was so short. I'd definitelly go back for a longer stay."
