Disliked: Staff & service, property conditions & facilities
We recently stayed at the Fontaine Grand Tokyo, and while my overall experience had some positive highlights, there were a few issues that left me disappointed.
To start, the location is about a 12–15 minute walk from the nearest station, which is something to keep in mind if you’re carrying heavy luggage or prefer a closer option. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, and the rooms were spotless. The cleaning team does an excellent job maintaining the space, and I was very impressed with their attention to detail.
Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t perfect. First, I tripped in front of the hotel because of some short grey pillars that were hard to notice. I ended up with a big bruise. When I informed the front desk, they simply apologized, which felt inadequate for a safety concern like this.
Secondly, the laundry facilities were very disappointing. The hotel only has three washers and dryers, which seems insufficient for a hotel of this size. On top of that, the machine we used damaged some of our clothes. When we approached the front desk for assistance, we were told that nothing could be done because the laundry service is outsourced. For a luxury hotel, this level of service was frustrating and not what I expected.
Overall, while the stay was comfortable and the cleaning team was fantastic, these issues—especially the safety hazard and poor handling of the laundry situation—tainted what could have been a much better experience.
