"Excellent Ryokan that has been well maintained and cared for given its long history. The old facility is evident and yet despite that, provided a cosy stay. The host was extremely warm and welcoming and showed the hospitality as one would expect from a traditional Ryokan passed down from decades old. "I stayed at two temples in Koyasan and this one was much inferior to the first one. They do not serve any meals. The staff was not very welcoming and cordial. They only offer one option to bath at night and nothing the morning. They also only offer one temple experience in the AM at 6:30. They were not helpful to assist visitors to determine where to sit and how to participate in the service. Would suggest you do your research in choosing a temple. "Really lovely ryokan and onsen with beautiful ocean views. The futons were very comfortable, as well. It's a little outside of Wakayama city (about 30 minutes/¥3500 by taxi), but there is a nearby bus and they have a parking area if you are driving. The staff speaks a little English, but don't expect the same level of English that you might get at a larger, urban hotel. Overall, it was very relaxing and I would definitely recommend it."
