Situated directly along the 2.5-mile beachfront of Playa Potrero overlooking the ocean, Villa Potrero includes a professionally landscaped private garden with an oceanfront patio for sunset cocktail hours. A private gate opens to a sandy beach for casual walks, a dip in the ocean, paddle boarding, fishing or just watching the sailboats pass by. The bay has gentle waves that are calm and inviting with warm swimmable water. Your view includes the Catalina Islands 6 miles offshore, one of the most sought out scuba diving and snorkeling locations in Costa Rica. Dive boats can get there in 10 minutes. 6-seat golf cart rental available for $60/day, 4 door Jeep Wrangler rental available for $120/day. The Villa Potrero estate consists of a large main house comprising 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 1 full kitchen and 2 kitchenettes. The home may be rented in whole to accommodate up 18 guests or the home can be rented as a 3 bedroom and a 4 bedroom separately - please inquire if one or another of these configurations is of interest to you. This listing is for the entire 7 bedroom home. The 4 bedroom guest suite and 3 bedroom guest suite can be reserved separately, inquire if either of these options is of interest to you. Villa Potrero is in a beach community within walking distance of several great restaurants such as Hemmingway’s, Nita Coffee, Cerveceria Independiente (Brewery), La Forketta, MerKdo (Grocery) and the sailing center. A few minutes’ drive takes you to El Tiki, Coco Loco, Surf Box (Coffee), Sentido Norte, and the Fruit Stand. So many great options nearby! The Flamingo marina is on the south end of the bay offering sunset cruises and world-class fishing.

Family Birthday Celebration
We had a group from 8 months to 7o’s. We did have a lot of rain but was still a wonderful time! Arturo, Martine and Mari were great to work with! The house was kept super clean and any issues were immediately addressed! Arturo arranged a big dinner reservation, an excursion to Diamante, and was super helpful with road conditions and routes to get around. We would love to come back again!! Also great recommendation for Food!

Fantastic stay and wedding location!
Villa Potrero was a fantastic place to stay. The house was amazing and beautiful! It has all the amenities and and was in the best location close to everything. We hosted our wedding at the house in the back yard and it was absolutely amazing. The guests loved the space and enjoyed the mixologists that Cori and Arturo provided as well as the picturesque sunset. The house was plenty big enough for our entire wedding party.

14 friends + Arturo = an amazing 40th birthday
We chose Villa Potrero to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience. We are forever thankful for Arturo for organizing our chef experiences, transportation and excursions. Several in our group are already looking at rebooking for their next family vacation! Every employee of the property we encountered made us feel like family and wanted us to have the best Costa Rica experience possible. This place is a must stay!

3 week Family Reunion
The house, pool, yard, beach and proximity to restaurants and shopping more than met our expectations. There was plenty of room for our group of 17 with ages ranging from 6 months to more than 70 years. The on site access to a manager and the daily housekeeping absolutely exceeded expectations. And the sunsets were magical!

Perfect house for a large group
This rental was top notch for our big group of 14 adults. Very nice, cool, & clean. Judy provided daily cleaning for the place & she was wonderful! So friendly & worked so hard! The pool was great to have since, although the property is right on the beach, most of the group would not get in the pacific ocean with the dark sand & dark water. We are all white beach, blue or emerald water, want to see what's in the water atound us kind of people. Lol. But you can't go wrong with the property itself - you will love it!

We had the best stay ever. We hosted a very small wedding with our friends and the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. The house is in a great location with direct beach access and easy to walk to the little store and a few restaurants. The yard is spacious for families and activities and we had an iguana that would visit us daily. Arturo and the rest of the staff were very attentive to our last-minute requests. They were always there for us but not intrusive and they gave great recommendations. The chef services were delicious and they saved the leftovers for us to eat throughout the day. My husband forgot his wallet and Arturo drove it to the airport and we still had plenty of time to make our flight. He's our hero. We will definitely be back next year.

Best house ever
This home was perfect for our family. It was clean, had many toys, including kayaks, bikes, a pool table and foosball. Arturo and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. From stocking our refrigerator to driving us all around the town and surrounding area. The beach, right outside our back yard, along with the pool provided much relief from the heat. We look forward to a return visit in the near future.

Great house for a group!
This property was perfect for our group of 13. Each couple got their own room and bed. The downstairs rooms are mini suites with coffee makers and such. Martin got out the kayaks and paddle boards every morning for us to use on the beach. The pool was big enough for our group and had enough lounging around the pool for everyone at the same time, which I feel isn’t typical. There was also a Bluetooth sound system at the pool which was great! Overall, would absolutely recommend this property and host!

Exceptional home away from home
Three generations of our family agreed that Villa Potrero was the best beach vacation we have experienced in 30 years of renting. As so many other reviewers have stated, this well designed, beautiful and spacious beachfront property stands head and shoulders above other similar rentals on its own, but when the amazing staff is added it becomes even more of a special place. Arturo, Yury and Martin were always accommodating, their "can do attitude" and smiles were genuine. They play a big part in elevating Villa Potrero from a wonderful, upscale beachfront property to an EXCEPTIONAL home away from home. Our family has been back in the States for less than a week and we have already rebooked Villa Potrero for next year. That speaks volumes!

Pura Vida Paradise
We adored our time at this beautiful home in Playa Portrera! This clean, spacious house is so well designed for a big group with many comfortable corners to curl up and read, nap or just take in the view. The bedroom/bathroom layout is ideal for multiple families/groups of friends, and the communal spaces are generously sized for dinners together & card games into the evenings. In addition to the beautiful house and great location (easy walk to restaurants, mercado etc..) we can't say enough about Arturo and the full team at the house that took such incredible care of us for our week long stay. From meals to massages to airport transfers everything was incredible and we felt so wonderfully cared for. We can't wait to come back - one of our favorite spots ever!

60th birthday get-together
The property was wonderful. We had 4 couples staying for a 60th birthday get-together. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. We spent a lot of time in the pool and went boogie boarding and kayaking. We drove the golf cart or walked to town where there is a grocery store and restaurants. Hemingways is very good! The ladies enjoyed a nice breakfast one morning at Nita's Coffee. I don't know how Arturo does it but he managed to keep all our requests and questions straight! We had the chef and mixologist come one night. It was fabulous! great fun with the mixologist!! The guys went fishing one day and they cooked the fish they caught. Judy cleaned for us whenever we needed it. Martin and Paco (the dog) were on site daily. You will love it here!

Truly a dream in paradise!
I’m struggling to put into words how amazing this property truly is. From the cleanliness, decor, layout, location, kitchen items, views and overall communication/support - it truly checks off all the boxes. Staying at this house was a highlight of our trip! There are so many beach toys readily available for all ages and the beach sand is the softest we have ever felt! So many great restaurants near by and close to the airport. The property manager is incredible and offered many resources/recommendations. We never go back to the same place as we like this keep challenging status quo, however this place is going to change that. We cannot wait to get back!! We cannot recommend enough.

Hidden gem with location, location, location!
We were so thrilled with everything about our trip. It felt like we discovered a hidden gem. The convenience from the Liberia airport was < 1 hour door to door. For outings on the water, there is a marina just down the beach. We took advantage of that for a catamaran/snorkeling/dinner cruise, which was amazing! We saw sea turtles, star fish, sea urchin, just to name a few highlights. We were able to walk down the beach for dinners, lunches, discovering quaint beach side restaurants and bars. So fun! We took long strolls on the amazing beach. There is a sailing school just down the beach that will take you out into the protected bay, which makes it an ideal place to take up a new hobby.

BEST VRBO EVER!!!
This home and staff are amazing!! Before our group even arrived Arturo, the house manager, was helping me plan excursions, massages, in house chef, transportation and grocery orders. When we arrived at the house we were stunned at the amazing view of the ocean, the cleanliness of the home and the warm welcome from Arturo and Martin who keeps the property beautiful! The refrigerator was full of food that we had ordered ahead of time and the in house chef was preparing our dinner while we soaked up the sun in the pool and ocean. Yury kept the house beautiful every day with a warm smile on her face. Future trips anywhere in the world will have a hard time matching this experience! Thank you Arturo for making our 25th wedding anniversary a memory we will never forget!!

Can't wait to go back!!
Everything about our stay was wonderful. This house is large and spacious. It's perfect for family/friend groups. You can easily and spaciously accommodate 3-4 families. The common areas provide enough space to spread out and the bed/bath setup is perfect. The view from the balcony is amazing, we enjoyed our morning coffee while being entertained by the pelicans diving for fish. The the sunset is so picturesque, coupled with a glass of wine, it's the perfect end to a long adventurous day. The beach walking is perfect here too. The house and grounds are superbly kept and the kitchen is well stocked. Town is a walkable distance, but we had no trouble parking when we opted to drive. We would definitely return and stay a bit longer. No one wanted to leave.

Our stay could not have been more perfect. We landed in Liberia. Within 1 hour of leaving the airport we were at the house and relaxing next to the amazing pool. The house is spacious, clean, updated, and located on a beautiful beach. The property meets up to the description and better than the pictures on VRBO. The house is well equipped for an active vacation. The bicycles, paddleboards, volleyball set and kayaks were an added value to staying here. What topped the trip off was the night our host arranged for a private chef to prepare dinner for us in the house, complete with bartender. The food and the drinks were amazing. The house manager was amazing and helped us with all of our needs. The house is also within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. Quaint little town for a perfect relaxing vacation. We will definitely be back.

50th anniversay celebration
We came to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with a party of 17…our kids and grandkids, ages ranging from 1-70 years. It was the perfect setting and arrangement for all ages. Kids and adults enjoyed the kayaks, bikes, paddle/boogy boards, which were available to us every day, as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs at the beach. We also enjoyed the pool table, foosball, and ping pong. We actually spent as much time in the pool as we did on the beach! The staff was over the top! Arturo was always accommodating and gracious to work with. Any question we had was always answered promptly. Yury daily kept the house clean and well supplied. Martin and Benito kept the grounds clean and were a nice daily presence. Thank you for making this an amazing memory for our family…we wouldn’t have changed anything!

Totally amazing!
Everything about this VRBO experience was amazing. Starting with Cori, the host, who answered my many questions promptly. The location of the house is right on the beach as pictured. Every morning Martin would put the paddle boards, kayaks, and life jackets right by the gate for easy access. There were boogie boards too. Arturo arranged our excursions, transportation, gave suggestions for restaurants. The sweetest lady would come every few days to clean. We had a chef and mixologist come one night. What a treat! We used the golf cart to get to the grocery store or explore the local area. We used the other car to take a ride to Tamarindo... the town was way too commercial for us. We were so happy to be back "home!" And the howler monkeys were in the trees right by the house several times...once at 5AM but so worth getting up for! The locals were very friendly. Take a walk on the beach to get to several restaurants and coffee shops. Arturo and Martin were easy to reach if anything came up while we were there. This is the 6th year our family of 13 has stayed at a VRBO and everyone agreed Villa Potrero was the best! It definitely exemplifies the Pura Vida! Hasta la proxima!

Ideal luxury vacation spot!
Our friends group of 7 couples had an amazing luxury get-away at this large beach front home. The location is fantastic - we could hear and see the ocean day and night, it's literally just a few steps away. Property manager, Arturo, arranged all the activities and services for us in advance making the planning easy and the execution was perfect - no hiccups! Arturo put together a full week itinerary with the services and excursions, which he arranged at discounted rates better than we could find on the internet. We enjoyed on-site massage and spa services, private chef prepared dinners with an entertaining "mixologist" bartender, a catamaran cruise, zip-lining, volcano hike and thermal spa experience, and an ATV ride to waterfalls. No need to rent cars - we used the shuttle service offered by the property owners and rented the golf cart and Jeep (which are available at the house) to get around to other nearby beaches and local spots. The house is very large with an open floor plan and many comfortable seating areas to relax with friends, alone with a book or just to enjoy the ocean view. We loved that the living room and dining easily accommodated our entire group comfortably. Another staffer, Martine, set up the beach chairs & umbrellas, pulled out the paddle boards and kayaks to be ready for us to use every morning. "House mom" Yuriana was wonderful - she cleaned the house daily and prepared breakfast, served on the veranda, every morning. All the details were attended to this was a true first rate luxury vacation experience.

Casa Surfside was a small slice of heaven and an unforgettable vacation destination! We want to thank you for an adventurous, amazing, and relaxing time, while staying in your place in Costa Rica. The beautiful house is finely appointed, spacious, and exceptionally maintained. We loved the open floor concept, with the large windows that invited the ocean view and sunshine into every room. We appreciated your kind, professional, and helpful staff. We looked forward to the delicious breakfasts served on the welcoming wrap-around veranda, from where we could see the vibrant colors in the garden and the meandering path leading to the beach. We enjoyed watching the ocean waves gently rolling in, along with the tropical butterflies and hummingbirds fluttering around the garden. What could be more relaxing than observing nature, while sipping a gourmet cup of coffee in comfy chairs on the veranda? The garden area served as a scenic backdrop for your gorgeous oasis and made for memorable pictures! We were able to select from myriad adventures near your property. The Property Manager was quite accommodating in providing direction for our excursions, so that we could enjoy Costa Rica to the fullest! The ocean was perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The soft sand made for endless beach walks. The crystal blue bay was truly breathtaking. And being out on the water was amazing – the bright, orange beach umbrellas always guided us home! We loved the thrilling ATV trail ride, relished in an afternoon catamaran tour, caught many fish by the Catalina Islands, and indulged in some incredible boutique shopping and delicious restaurants both on and off the beach. After our outings, it was relaxing to return to lounge in the private pool. We made the absolute most of our time in Costa Rica and look forward to returning to the beautiful sunsets.
