A nice hotel, quiet rooms with plenty of space, bit disappointed we had to ask at the end of the day why our room hadn’t been serviced when we came back from a days walking, just to have more milk, coffee etc. breakfast and bar staff excellent would definitely recommend a stay as the position of the hotel is fabulous

Stayed in a 2 bedroom villa. The bad. There was NO air conditioning. We were provided with 2 fans that did very little to cool down the rooms during the day. The windows only open a couple inches, making it impossible for provide airflow from outside. It was unbearably hot and stuffy until after the sunset around 9pm. Additionally, the room was very run down. The furniture was in need of replacement. The carpet was absolutely disgusting. We were provided with 1 remote for two TVs, but it wasn’t working. After two requests to have the remote fixed, it still did not work on one of the TVs. The good. The bathroom was updated and clean. The free breakfast was amazing. The hotel provides complimentary use of the sauna, and the pool area is very nice. The location is ideal. Very close to all the shops and restaurants. Even with the amenities I would not stay at this property again due to how uncomfortable the villa was.

The pool had green stuff on the inside wall and water cloudy. Didn't realise I had to book dinner for causal dinning for one? Staff member strange when no one around and I had to pay on ordering? Don't think she realises I was staying at the hotel?

We loved our stay! Had been there many years ago and as charming as ever. Room overlooked lake and beds were comfortable. Excellent Christmas Day buffet. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Te Anu which is much more convenient to Milford and Doubtful Sound than Queenstown.

The villa option was a great way to be with family at a better cost that 2 rooms. More comfortable as well. I did 4 stars for condition ONLY because it's a bit older property and parts were a bit worn, but the rooms were impeccable as were the dining and other amenities. Perfect location as well. A great place to stay.

Comfortable Stay in Te Anau
We stayed in Te Anau after visiting the Milford Sound. The Distinction Hotel was right on the lake across the street and a good location for walking to other places in this small town. We stayed in a Villa Room which was huge. It would have been great for a longer stay, but we were only there overnight. The room was clean and comfortable although it was detached from the main hotel. Parking was convenient to the Villa but was difficult to navigate to in the darkness of night. We ate at the restaurant in the bar and the food was exceptional. Our server was great and made a perfect suggestion for breakfast the next day on our way out of town continuing our journey. I would stay at this hotel again.
