"We stayed in the private apartment, which was lovely. The fireplace is a very nice touch and the unit is well equipped with a kitchen and some fun retro touches (Pac-Man game and console, record player with records). The street is very noisy, but that is true with most places in the area. I wore ear plugs every night. The beds weren’t the most comfortable either. Staff was great though and the daily breakfast was nice. "

"Hotel Cipreses has a great location and was wonderful for our 1-night stay in November, extra convenient to Santa Elena Cloud Forest and Selvatura Park. "Carlos was the most attentive host you could ask for. One evening, he spent about an hour talking with us about the history of Costa Rica. "The staff and service are wonderful. We have seen wildlife around the property including a coati, armadillo and a monkey! The location is up a hill/mountain so we tend to drive rather than walk into town. Breakfast here and all our meals in town at recommended spots have been great! The room is very clean but dated and the bathroom could use an upgrade. Otherwise, I’d give it 5 stars!"

"We booked day-of after a change in plans and were just looking for a cheap and decent place to stay overnight. We were pleasantly surprised. This place is adorable. No frills, but the room and premises were clean, and staff was friendly and helpful. They served a delicious, made-to-order breakfast. No A/C wasn't a problem as the temperature dropped at night. Walkable to town for dinner and drinks. Check in and check out were easy. "
