"You can tell this used to be a pretty good hostel and there are still some great things about it. However, it needs some tlc (tender loving care) to get it back up to par. Based on photos we saw, it looks like the lobby used to have a place to sit and change your shoes. That would be great, since you have to remove your shoes before entering each time. "After I took the Taoyuan Airport Express Train to the last station named Taipei Main Station I exited Gate 5 and turned right (South). I kept walking with my luggage for about 500 meters and the Via Hotel was very next to the Family Mart store (at the corner). If you want to take MRT to other places the nearest one was NTU Hospital and it was very close to the hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff was polite and helpful (they gave me a copy of the MRT map). I chose a room with no window....

"Clean comfortable and well appointed this apartment next to Taipei Main station was perfect for our first night in Taiwan. We were lucky to pick it up last minute at a reduced rate. It was well appointed with two large double beds. The shower was good and the small kitchen had everything you need for a short stay. My only criticism is that there are no bedside lights and only one has a power socket. Communication was clear and easy to follow. We would definitely look to stay here again. "
