"A beautiful building, tastefully updated in the best location in Basel. Was a nice surprise to get the VIP of the day treats. The plate of seasonal fruits and the hand written postcard are those little things that make the difference. Sending over 200 nights a year in 4 or 5 stars hotel in Europe and the USA I AM pretty sure excelente is on the detalles. Our room, overlooking the Rathaus and Markolatz was superb. Great amenities from Molton Brown. Special thanks to the Dominican lady taking care of our room every day and to David, at front desk for his effort to try get a parcel delivered to me. No luck at all with PDP but he was very kind and did his best. Despite not having an indoor pool at the spa, the top floor terrace with 360 degree views of the city is superb. Breakfast is delicious too. Would definitly come again and highly recomend Maerthof Hotel. "

"We were very happy with our stay. The staff was great and very friendly. We arrived 3 hours before check in time after traveling 20 hours from California and they were able to upgrade our room and let us check in early. This was awesome since all we wanted to do was get a little sleep. We were only there for one night, just a quick stay over before joining our river cruise the next day. "

"The one major problem was the lack of lighting in the room. Two small wall sconces and 1 dim table lamp are totally insufficient. It really detracted from what was otherwise an excellent and unique property"

"Very clean hotel, spacious rooms and excellent location when having to catch early transportation. The only negative I would say is I booked this hotel in particular for the location, but more so because it had a pool. The pool looks far bigger in the pictures. 3-4 kids in there is almost enough to fill it. Pool and all areas were also very clean. "
