Setting - beautiful!
Hotel layout - magical and functional. It is quick to walk around and get from place to place.
Accommodation - the cabin was comfortable, clean and snug. The only niggle was the heating - there were no instructions (took a while to find all the thermostats!), and the default is set way too high for sleeping.
Excursions - great fun and very friendly guides.
Gabba cabin - quaint and charming setting for lunch.
Restaurant - let the whole experience down, and because our stay was half board, our overall stay felt overpriced. Dinner starts at 7pm, and the staff in the restaurant have a process to serve dinner, table by table, and even though we stressed to multiple staff members that we had excursions at 9pm (2 nights in a row), we still were not served our dinner as a priority. We left without getting dessert. We noticed there were other couples and families who missed dessert as well. Hotel guests with excursions should have priority, but don't.
One other issue: the food choice is a set 3 course meal, which posed challenges to us as pescatarians and for my wife who suffers from nut and shellfish allergies - the hotel were informed in advance, but seemed to leave the food preparation/choice to the last minute.
The hotel itself is not far from Kirkenes (±15mins), so if you would like to avoid the stress of minimal food choices and slow service, get a taxi into town, eat when you want to, and get back in plenty of time for the excursions.
