"Really enjoyed my time here - spent a week and was a lovely little home base in Malta. Rooms all very thoughtfully designed with high-quality linens and toiletries. Breakfast was above and beyond relative to a boutique hotel of this size, with plenty of delicious options and an extremely attentive staff. Everyone in the hotel was very kind and welcoming, and hotel owner Mark goes out of his way to get to know his guests and provide everything they need to have a wonderful stay. If you’re looking for a chain-style hotel with silent rooms and an enormous buffet, I might look elsewhere, but if you want to stay at a lively, top-quality boutique hotel at the heart of a European city, Barrister is the place to go. I swear by Rick Steves in Europe and could definitely see this spot in his guide if he had one for Malta. The excellent ratings are well-earned. "

"A lovely characterful property in a quiet, yet incredibly convenient location. Our suite in the Hideaway was on the top floor with a mezzanine level and outdoor spa pool. The view towards the harbour and of the three cities was amazing. However, for someone less mobile the spiral staircase might be tricky to climb. The hotel was very luxurious and the service first class. We will definitely return as Malta has so much to offer and 3 days wasn’t nearly enough time to experience it all. "

"The hotel is located in a quiet pedestrianised location (so taxi’s cannot get directly outside the front door but the staff were very willing to help with our luggage) and it is convenient for exploring Valletta on foot (a particular gem is the nearby Manoel Theatre which runs a tour with an actor as guide). The hotel is modern inside and we chose a room with a balcony which made a big difference for our 10 night stay (Malta has high humidity). Staff were very helpful and cleanliness was excellent. The inclusive breakfast was very good although the breakfast area is on the small size (space is generally at a premium in Valletta). Really enjoyed our stay helped by booking some heavily subscribed events before arriving (e.g. ‘Underground Valletta’ and ‘Valletta Resounds’ which is also a good way of seeing the Co-Cathedral as well without the queues), We also bought a ‘Heritage Pass’ and a bus pass (which includes a boat tour of the harbours and some ferries e.g. to Gozo although the bus timetable for some of the longer routes should be taken with a pinch of salt). The hotel does not have a restaurant but there are plenty within easy walking distance. Particularly liked Gambit (Old Bakery St.) and Ambrosia (Archbishop St.) although advance booking is probably sensible."
