"The Old Lockup is a lovely place to spend some time. It is calm and relaxing. Tim, the host, is very helpful and cooks a wonderful fresh breakfast to order every morning. There is lots in the area to see and do. "

A few characters having a ciggy outside but they didn't cause any noise or anything later when we got back from a night in Derby. At the end of the day it was really cheap and included breakfast. "At first entry the property absolutely reaked of stale spices, I assumed somebody had just cooked but the smell remained until I left. My room at the front of the house was fine. A little bit dirty in places. The real nightmare was the bathroom. After walking through the kitchen which was dirty, full of dirty dishes, unswept/mopped for weeks and lacking supplies, I found 2 full binbags inside by the back door and then went to the bathroom. It was filthy. The bath with weeks worth or black hair...

"Unable to be checked-in anytime after 4 p.m. when I arrived there. And also told by others who live there (not the owner) that my room will not have an en-suite bathroom either. "

"Had a wonderful three nights, comfortable bed, enormous continental breakfast which was fab, fascinating decor which we loved, big wet room with huge towels which were so cosy, slippers provided, in fact you couldn’t fault anything, beautiful gardens to relax in, great hosts, very welcoming. Would definitely stay again when in the area. Highly recommend 😄"
