"We really enjoyed Hotel Burfell. The proximity to everything we wanted to see and experience was awesome. In fact, I was just reminiscing with my husband about the beautiful drive from the hotel to Vik. The hotel is nicely situated away from the road on the side of a mountain with no other buildings nearby. A very peaceful location with open fields. "This is a very bare bones property. It's a self check-in facility, and is a little unusual in Iceland guesthouses in that there is no breakfast facilities. That said, it was perfectly functional. "

"No one was there when we arrived but we soon found out that they were over booked and we we put up in a nearby hotel that was of a much poorer quality for the same price. I have read other reviews saying that when they arrived they found out that the hotel was overbooked too so this might be a policy of theirs. Nice enough place otherwise but I would not recommend."

"This was a guesthouse where we were greeted by the owner as we drove up. She showed us our room, which was clean and comfortable. She also made wonderful pancakes for breakfast for everyone, it felt like a family meal. I would recommend to anyone wanting something other than the sterile hotel room experience. "
