"This company is completely untrustworthy. We had one night reserved here and two night at another of their properties. We wanted to stay at this property for an extra night, and cancel the first night at the other property. Everyone told me this would be fine - the staff at this hotel, the staff at the second hotel, and their main office staff. They said to book the second night at this place and then send a request through to cancel the first night at the other property and they would accept...

"Great stay - clean tent, good food, fantastic staff, in the park so zebras on the doorstep! The only issues were that a) the bathrooms have no doors - which isnt good when you are 3 friends staying in 1 room - and there is a doorframe so goodness knows why there are no doors! And b) there was a grass fire which came very near the hotel and there was zero comminication about whether we were safe or not - simply saying "it will be fine" doesnt really do anything to reassure guests who arent used...

"I’ve never thought such service exists. The place, the stuff , the hotel itself were incredible. Safari was so exciting. The camp you live in is like my dream house I would like to take with me everywhere. I never forget the kindness of the stuff."

"Overpriced substandard facilities. Freezing cold bedroom. Ugly architecture, dark and dingy. Dirty dark and cold bathroom. Window stained with dead bugs and dust. No heaters to compensate. Very depressing. No hot water. We were forced to to ask them to boil water and put it into buckets in order to wash ourselves by using an empty margarine container. Unheard of when we have paid £900 to be in this tacky facility worthy of a YMCA student accommodation Location of the property is very bad....

"The staff went over and above to make this a unique experience. Our butler Ali was superb, Gideon who cleaned our room is out of this world. Folds your shirts and makes the bed twice a day. The young chef made meals that were consistently tasty. Rashid the Camp manager was a charm and excellent host. Highly recommend this place. "

"The location and setting is magnificent, but what made Pioneer so special is the wonderful service by all the staff working under the perfect oversight of Manager Simon. "Spending two nights at Kananga Special Tented Camp was the most incredible experience. Waking up in the Serengeti and seeing the sun start to rise was so special. My daughter and I did a self drive and the tips given to us by the managers John Shana and Mohamed were very useful. "We actually stayed at the sister camp Serengeti Safari Lodge because of an upgrade. We had a tented cabin with a nice bathtub, separate shower, nice comfy bed tented with a mosquito net. We could see some game from our balcony and could see the sunrise from our bed, Which made our stay an unforgettable experience. The staff is very kind and attentive. We booked the game drives with the Lodge and it was a wonderful experience. "

"We stayed for 3 nights and it was wonderful! We loved it. Staff was very friendly, food was good, got to see plenty of animals from our room! But be prepared to pay more money by the end. Considering how much we paid for the room, we would’ve thought the airport transfer should’ve been included for free, but nope. $200 each way. That is very expensive. Also, they charge a national park fee daily. We had to pay an extra 1.2K. Just an FYI. But we enjoyed everything. "

"The lodge is located in a central place amongst the vast Serengeti, so it is relatively easy to visit the sites where the animals are located. I found the buffet fantastic with a great chef and helpful staff. Dancers accompanied the evening meals and there was a nice vibe in the dining area. You cannot leave the premises of the lodge, it literally is too dangerous to do so, as hyenas, warthogs or even a hippo may attack you. An incredible sight I witnessed was to see a giraffe appear at night behind my room! Some mornings, monkeys would appear on the roof of the lodge, but they were harmless and ran away from the sight of us. The views from the lodge of the Serengeti are fantastic and many a guest woke up early to try to witness the sunrise or sunset. The rooms are just about spacious enough for 2 people but the wi-fi is poor. Lights go out at 12 midnight and there is no hot water from 12 to 6 AM, not a huge issue for me personally. The gym has a good set of equipment’s and was not busy at all during my stay. I regretted not taking binoculars for my safari and I think it would be a good business opportunity if the lodge rented these out. "
