"Fabulous hotel. Think it had only just re-opened post a change of ownership and total refurbishment so was spotless. Rooms were very large for Japan with amazing views across the harbour to the sea. Lots of very helpful staff. Lovely rooftop bar (they gave us a voucher for a free drink when we checked in!) and breakfast was very tasty although traditional Japanese i.e. rice, miso, vegetables and rice. Walkable down to the town/harbour but it's a quite a big hill / lots of steps coming back!...

"When is a resort not a resort? In this case, when it doesn't provide any facilities outside the room. There's a rooftop bar in summer but nothing at other times. Staff were pleasant but breakfast was limited and when we asked for a second cup of coffee we had to pay for it. The room is large but was taken up by 4 double futons and a massive hanging screen for projecting TV/video. We felt it was intended for a large group who wanted to watch DVDs all day. The cost would have been fine split 8...

"My daughter and I traveled to Japan for two weeks and stayed here in the middle of a 70K Shimanami Bike trip. I wish so much we'd booked an additional night. Of the seven hotels/ryokans we stayed during our trip, this was heads above all the others. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious and the ryokan was quite peaceful. The staff was wonderful- helpful and attentive. If I'm ever lucky enough to return to Japan and visit this area again, I'll return to this lovely property."
