"My wife and I truly enjoy our 3-days-2-nights stay at Zao Shiki No Hotel. This is our every first time visiting Zao, in Yamagata Prefecture. Free shuttle services are included to-and-fro between Yamagata Station and the hotel (with prior booking of the service) This is wonderful, and absolutely convenient. Check-in process is quick and smooth and the front-desk staff is able to communicate with us in English. The room assigned to us is on the 6 floor. It is so clean and spacious. We love the room! Breakfasts and dinners are included in our hotel booking. They are great! We enjoy our meals during our stay in the hotel. The staff in the restaurant are friendly and provide good services. Thank you for storing a bottle of Sake which I have ordered it during my dinner on the 1st night. Haha. I couldn't finish drinking the entire 300ml bottle of Sake by myself alone as my wife is not drinking it. The staff is willing to store and keep the bottle of my Sake so that I can enjoy it for my dinner on the 2nd day. Thank you team! We enjoy our stay! We will return some day in the future ! "

"I love cold weather and snow, so that part of Northern Honshu was perfect for me. I also have family in the area to drive me to Zao, which is a lot easier than taking the bus! This hotel is clearly on the older side, but that really didn't detract from the whole experience, which was positive. The bath was relaxing and though it wasn't large, I never felt over crowded. The beds were comfortable~ sort of an amalgam of futon and boxspring. Though I wish they were on the tatami, it was nice that they were by the windows. I am pretty sure I've been in those particular onsen baths before, so I am wondering if this hotel has existed in the past under different ownership with a different name."

"Located right inside Zao Onsen District, I arrived by car. A very well facilitated hotel, with lift (especially important for travellers which big luggages), private onsen is available for booking. The reception team and hospitality teams speaks some English, and are very warm and friendly. "

"This is a beautiful old facility. Taxi or bus from train station. An uphill walk from bus station or about $50 taxi. We visitors in January. Icy steps! The staff was great to carry luggage up to room! Chucky was so nice and helpful. Ask to see his photos from his hometown!"

"We did not use the onsen and we were only here for one night. Things to note… it’s very hard to travel around this area! No Ubers lol. We were able to get people to call us taxis so make sure to have cash! We loved our traditional room, I just wish for foreigners they had instructions. Other than that, we had a great stay :) very peaceful and beautiful area. The view of the mountain was awesome! "
