Yes, some parts of Bali are overrun with tourists and rubbish. However, we’ve been here for a couple of weeks now and we’ve seen many beach clean ups being organized, plus single-use plastic is restricted, so yay to this Bali!

Whenever I hear people complaining because Bali is too touristy, I would like to remind them that it’s a pretty big island, and visiting ‘Western hotspots’ is not compulsory! You can always find places with not many other people around, and in some cases you don’t even need to travel far. This is Seseh Beach, less than 15 minutes away from Canggu by scooter!

"The staff told us it's fully book when we arrived the hostel in the middle of the night. We tried to call to make sure there's bed but nobody answered the phone and email. We have paid for 2 beds turned out he can't do anything and told us we were not his first guests to have double on that day. Wow! Unbelievable 😡"

"There is a mosque near by with loudspeakers. The rooms are fairly soundproof between rooms, but the doors can be heard opening & closing at all hours as the 20-30 yr olds mingle. Bright stylish rooms but the old wood around the communal kitchen sink lets one know that maintenance isn’t a priority. The pool is in front and smaller than pictured. Lots of lounging seats in the lobby and pool area. Staff are super helpful with luggage up & down stairs. Because it’s so close to the airport, grab cars...

"A very basic hostel with little service and bad breakfast. The toilet is dirty and mirrors are never cleaned. The only plus is the central location of the hostel."

"The service and overall vibe are fantastic—it's an experience everyone should have. If you’re vegan, we highly recommend it; their vegan options are unparalleled. The plant-based cheese focaccia was a standout dish. The staff's attentiveness and helpfulness are unmatched; they provide a five-star experience. The rooms are great, with excellent quality. However, the general cleanliness of the pools could be improved, and some of the furniture in public areas, such as the daybeds around the pool, needs to be replaced. They look a little tired now. Overall this is an excellent place to stay and we can't wait to visit again."
