"The hotel is half way through a refurb so reception and breakfast are in a portacabin. We booked in for 2 nights but the the keycard failed after 24hrs, the aircon didn't work on the second evening either, breakfast was missing basic items like butter"

I wasn't able to confirm any details by calling the property because of a language barrier but that didn't bother me because my wife is French and speaks natively. The demeanor of the lady checking my wife in was beyond a Parisian cold. Given what my wife has explained she was just rude. And my wife is someone who never likes to complain about customer service. "We were put into hotel de la gare (sister hotel next door)as it was better for limited mobility guests. The room and bathroom were perfect, being on the ground floor and with all the amenities needed. Breakfast was good quality and reasonably priced. The restaurant had a limited menu but was OK"
