"Booked 3 rooms bed and breakfast for a family event. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The service from the bar staff and the breakfast ladies was great. "We chose a bad day to go, there was a Christmas fare on in a marquee in the grounds and the place was packed out with every available member of staff busy in the restaurant, so there was no one mannig the reception, so, we did as the notice on the door said and asked a member of staff to check us in, and although she was rushed of her feet she got us checked in along with another couple who had also arrived. "I think its my 3rd visit to the Windmill The floorboards are creaky, the phone signal is really awful. (But that does have a positive, no disturbances) Its a lovely little place to stay! The staff are fantastic. It's spotlessly clean. The restaurant is great, too much choice and very, very tasty. Although it's right on the A19 its peacefully quiet. A cracking little place that's quirky and does exactly what is says on the tin. Cheap n cheerful 😊 "

"Our room was beautiful. It had a king size bed and the en-suite bathroom was a good size. The only downside was that the toilet flush handle was broken but still worked. It could have done with better lighting in the bathroom as you couldn’t see in the mirror very well. The room was immaculately clean and had a sofa and tv with easy to connect to WiFi. Personally I struggled with comfort of the bed as I found it too soft but it was dressed with clean sheets and had extra pillows in the wardrobe....

"All in all nice little cottage for a couple and good as was pet friendly to go up Durham to visit our son up uni and take our dog to see him too. Cottage was nice a little place although i think the tv was slightly too high on wall. As we arrived there were 3 plumbing vans parked outside so had to park out side another cottage for bout hour n half till they moved their vans after going in pub at front of cottages before parking own car then outside our own cottage.
