Kelly was able to accommodate our early checkin which was very much appreciated. It is an older house that was renovated into multiple units, and so some items are given in an older place - not enough plugs, etc. The stairs to the top unit, where we stayed, was fairly steep and even with the handrail, was tricky when carrying items up and down. The place was clean and the living room was bright and comfy. Had the weather been a little warmer, the balcony and the nice view would have been perfect but it was too cold to sit out there especially since we got snow. We still enjoyed seeing the skyline through the sliding glass doors. We thought it would be noisier given the corner location but we were pleasantly surprised as it was very quiet. The house was freezing when we checked in, however, and it would have been more welcoming if the house was warmer, or the instructions to heat the house up more readily available.
Suggestions for improvement:
a. Print out instructions for the heater and the oven so it is easier to get them turned on. The oven was tricky and it ended up with the kitchen smelling like gas.
b. Some darkening shades for the bedroom windows would also help keep the light out when tenants are trying to sleep. With the days being so short in the winter, perhaps it isn't a big deal, but with longer days coming, it may be different.
c. A shelf in the bathroom would be helpful. While the storage closet was there, we didn't use them as we didn't want to confuse the rental items with ours.
d. Starter set of supplies would be helpful. We only had a few sheets of paper towels and didn't get to the store for a day. Same with coffee - although there is a coffee shop a few blocks down. Perhaps we're just used to having these starter items at our prior rentals.
e. The kitchen has nice appliances and definitely a plus for guests like us who plan to cook. Instructions for the oven would have helped tho. Also, extra dish towels. We only found one - and for a 5 night stay, we needed more than 1. There were plenty of bath towels, which was great, but we didn't want to use the handtowels for the kitchen. We only saw the large chef knife after we've done all our prep with two paring knives.
Overall, it was a decent stay - the price was reasonable and the owners responsive.
