"We booked to stay at Haus Saarland am Rennsteig. On arriving at the hotel we found it was closed and a notice telling us to go to another hotel, Hotel Thuringenschanze which was about 0.5km away. Since we had arrived by public transport we had to walk there with our luggage. On checking in at the new hotel we were not offered Oberhof guest cards. "Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen und eignet sich für Besucher 60+, die gerne in vergangenen Zeiten schwelgen. Modern ist anders. Es liegt im Tal, ist daher ziemlich dunkel. Ich würde es als Durchgangsstation für Wanderungen empfehlen, aber nicht für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Das Frühstück war reichlich und das Personal freundlich."

"Our family quite enjoyed our stay here. Our room was very clean and well-appointed and we enjoyed the comfortable common area with a kitchen and tables for eating and game playing. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and live onsight so are generally very available. Wir sind zu dritt(Kind 12) mit Hund angereist.Das ist genau das richtige für Leute die einfach mal dem grauen Alltag entfliehen wollen. Das wir im Haus keinen Wasseranschluss hatten, hat uns garnicht gestört, da wir die meiste Zeit draussen verbracht haben. "Super schöne Gegend (trotz nicht so tollen Wetter). Vermieter sehr freundlich, Haus liebevoll eingerichtet, zum wohlfühlen . Zum einkaufen benötigt man ein auto, ohne geht nicht viel. Schade,das Sehenswürdigkeiten im Ort geschlossen hatten. Fahren gerne wieder hin."
