"Lovely old hotel near centre of Whitby and on the seafront. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I had an updated room and it was very good with all modern amenities. I would recommend The Royal Hotel Whitby for amy staying in the town."

"Great pub food, really friendly staff and clean rooms. Couldn’t recommend Penny Hedge enough. Breakfast was good value for money too. Right beside Whitby Gin if you want to go in for a tour. Walk down into Whitby was easy enough but uphill on the way back! "

"All around magnificent piece of architecture. Brilliant staff, very helpful and pleasant. For the price I paid, the room itself was great. The place could do with a bit of redecoration but I really liked the atmosphere of the hotel overall."

"Great location on the edge of the town to walk the dogs to the beach and beyond. Breakfast nice, but pricey. Loved the dog showers/towels made available for when you get back from a muddy/sandy walk. Also, the free coffee and cake which was welcome after a long walk. Hotel was really warm, so had the window open most of the night which then subjects you to some road/seagull noise."
