"This was a "blow the budget" trip for me and I was not disappointed. The hotel is built into caves and has fantastic views of the city and over the ford (you can walk over). My room (a cave in itself) was huge, a large jacuzzi in the centre (would likely accommodate 4 people) and a modern wet room at rear, decor and lighting was perfect. The restaurant was also built into cave, was beautiful. Staff eager to assist and pleasant to chat to. Overall, fantastic - 1 minor criticism, the water in jacuzzi was not warm, no doubt refreshing in the sweltering summer but uninviting in a cooler October! Did mention to staff and it was being inspected when I left. Formidable place, thank you. "

"We didn’t get the bottle of wine and we forgot to ask for it. However, the hotel, the room and location was stunning. Specially the people who work at the hotel, they were wonderful! All of them were kind and friendly. We even met the owner whom was very kind and attentive to all our needs. I’d come back for next time. Kudos to Giuseppe for his time and recommendations!"

"This property deserves a big thumbs up. Cave rooms were very well designed with a lot of attention to detail (lights, candles, custom shower gels). Breakfast was one of the best I had recently with a lot of local cheese and fruits instead of banal buffet items. Ricotta was simply amazing. Staff was polite and helpful. I would definitely stay again. The only recommendation I would give is that since each room is unique I would put each room and its images separately instead of room category. "

"This is an EXCELLENT place to stay and enjoy Matera. The rooms are big, very comfortable, modern, and convenient to walk around beautiful Matera. The bathroom is big and the toilet is in a separate room than the shower and the lavatory. The staff is very helpful and very cordial. They helped us with every request we had. But, I can’t emphasize more the location… it is in the middle of the Sassi and all locations that one needs to visit. It is located in a small mountain that overlooks part of the Sassi. And one thing very important, you don’t have to carry your luggage to far up, the lobby is 6 stairs from the main avenue that takes you everywhere. Highly recommended.!!!"

"Our accommodations were lovely. Enjoyed the spa experience. Nice breakfast too. Located in Sassi halfway between the top and the bottom of the hill. I would estimate 100 steps either up or down. Be aware in order to have dinner or sightsee you must go up or down! You also have to carry your luggage. Would not recommend for anyone with bad knees. You can do a tuk tuk tour of Sassi instead and stay on top. It is a lovely town."
