The house exceeded expectations and the property managers were unparalleled. They took care of our every need and were extremely communicative. I cannot recommend this enough.
This house is exceptional and so is Alex, the property manager; Ofelia the cook that we used for most dinners and the private chef, Paolo, that we splurged on for the last night. I’d highly recommend to anyone else coming to Costa Rica.
Property was great with awesome kitchen supplies and appliances. Beautiful view and hang out areas. Just want to let others know that this is not a property within walking distance to anything - you need a car to get anywhere- even pickleball and tennis courts.
The villa is located in the Coco Bay Estates development and positioned above Playa del Coco with a good bay view. The photos of VIlla Dulce Vida are accurate with respect to the design and finish and the villa was spotless when we arrived. There was a large load of bed sheets, towels, and pillowcases in the dryer that required folding. The kitchen is pretty well-stocked with cooking essentials but the fire sticks for lighting the grill were not functional. The black quartz countertops look great but show every crumb, grain of salt, water spot, etc requiring a lot of constant cleaning if you cook in the villa. There was no problem with mosquitos for our visit, but GIANT grasshoppers were a problem. Both raccoons and grey foxes were seen outside at night and Howler monkeys were heard, but not seen. The town is quite small, sleepy, and not a lot to choose from when it comes to restaurants (the Italian restaurant was quite good). Auto Mercado was an excellent grocery store (as was New Super China, but only for essentials). The restaurant (Sugoi) was average to good with a limited wine list. The associated beach club was quite small, minimaly staffed, and serves no cocktails. The nearest beaches are vocanic (black sand) and not particularly attractive. We enjoyed the week we spent at Dulce Vida but will likely not return to the town of Playa Coco in favor of other areas of Costa Rica.
This was a beautiful home and lived up to our expectations. What made our stay especially good was Alex and his team. This rental was by far our best experience with timely responses. From arranging a chef to helping us with excursions to arranging transport to and from the airport. Truly a 5 star experience.
This is an amazing house. The weather was perfect and the town is cute and authentic. Not your typical tourist area. The highlight was the property managers who did their best to make us at home. Would love to,go back.
Beautiful house overlooking Playa Ocotol bay and Playa del Coco bay. Alex and Gerry were so helpful and friendly arranging transportation, cooking and history lessons about the area. We were very fortunate to see howler monkeys almost everyday, not a usual occurrence. One of our best vacations.
Beautiful relaxing home. Spacious. Great place for retreat. The view is amazing. Pool much appreciated after hike back up from town. Great spot for happy hour. Some issues with ice maker and wifi sound system. Alex and chauffeur Johnny were A1, always ready to help with smiles and helpful suggestions.
We vacationed at Villa Dulce Vida with 8 adults. Everything from the booking, planning and duration of the visit was perfect. Alex assisted with planning all excursions prior to arriving and presented an itinerary that included every activity we desired. Once we arrived at the house we were greeted by Gerry, who ensured every activity was perfectly executed. We appreciated Gerrys input and responsiveness to all our needs and requests. He really made the stay special.
I completely recommend booking this villa for a relaxing accommodation, breath taking views and the most friendly people. Pura Vida!
We had a wonderful time at the villa. Very spacious rooms, unique design and absolutely killer views. It absolutely necessary to have at least one car (depending on how many are in your party) to run down the hill for shopping, restaurants, the Club or visit nearby beaches. The weather was perfect, the villa gets nice breezes and the patio is in the shade most of the day. Nearby favorite beaches for us were Playa Hermosa and Playa Ocotal. We also enjoyed a Trimaran cruise (arranged by house manager Alex) with snorkeling.
Our college age kids did a group day trip to the Rincon Volcano area with activities at a resort there and loved it!
This was our 2nd time in Costa Rica and we will definitely be coming back.
“The guys” were great, always responsive, very courteous and will provide you with all the information you need. You will definitely need a car as this is not a walk to the beach kind of property but the views are spectacular. Coco is fun, get the Casado, enjoy the locals, tip the parking helper!
We has a wonderful stay. Place is better than pictures can present. Alex and Gerry were great - setting up rides anytime we needed, setting up excursions, chef, etc.- did their best to make it the best experience possible. Chef Anita won our hearts with her kind spirit and wonderful cooking skills and Gabby was gracious to fill in for her the first day. Also, excellent meals. The drivers we had: Jonny, Jose and Edgar were very respectful of us and our time and were fun to be around. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay.
The property was great! The home is new, and has many unique features from a design standpoint. Everything worked well in the house. The location is excellent, with unsurpassed views of Coco Bay. The home is in a very secure (gated and guarded) community within a few minutes drive to the center of town (Coco Beach). Communication and local property management was very accessible and helpful if needed.
Overall, I would highly recommend a stay at this lovely, and impressive home. It would be difficult to find anything superior to this property, in this area.
Overall, we had a fantastic time at this beautiful house with amazing views. However, there were a few drawbacks. The icemaker did not work, air in the water line in the apartment which made loud noises. You definitely cannot walk through this community due to the steep hills, so you will either need to rent a car or be prepared to pay for private transportation (least amount paid was 40 per roundtrip).
We communicated with the property managers Gerry and Alex about hiring the local cook months in advance and sent several follow up communication with confirmation and the morning of our trip I received a message indicating that the cook was ill and no other replacement in their network was available. This was very disappointing to say the least. Another specific request for a birthday cake was not fulfilled as requested, so there were some disappointments with the Villa managers.
We had such a wonderful stay, the house is absolutely stunning with breathtaking views. All the appliances and cookware are good quality, the house was exceptionally clean and we loved it! Alex and Gerry were wonderful, they arranged transfers for us, restaurant reservations and for the traditional chef to cook for us a couple of nights. They were just whatsapp away, and we messaged frequently with questions and they were always so responsive and helpful
I would highly recommend Ofelia, the chef who prepares traditional costa rican food. It was delicious and such a treat not to have to worry about cooking or buying groceries. The area is great, we walked into Coco a few times (although I would recommend a car as there are some steep hills to navigate). We also used the Club at Coco Bay almost daily as it had a huge pool and drinks/snack service as well as a gym and tennis courts. All in all it was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend choosing this villa for your stay.
The short version here is that you’re going to love your stay! Just look at the pictures and then remind yourself that they don’t do the view or the place justice. Yep, you’re going to have that amazing view and those amenities while staying in Costa Rica where you can have as much adventure or down time as you want. We had a mix of both.
Plus, the team of Gerry and Alex will make sure you have everything you need for your stay. They’re excellent communicators and always available. You honestly can’t go wrong and don’t need to be stressed or worried about your stay.
I know our family will be back!
I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful property for my Birthday trip! The property is beautiful and the view is amazing. The property was very clean and well kept and there was nothing that we needed that we didn't already have in the home. We were blessed to have two wonderful ladies make our meals during our stay and the food was delicious!
Now! Gerry, Alex, and Sandy were absolutely amazing. They were always responsive and there to answer any questions we had. Alex help set up an itinerary before we arrived including transportation for our entire stay and everything happened as planned with no issues.I even arranged for Birthday decorations to be set up while we were out and the team made sure everything happened with no issues. We unfortunately had an accident while in Costa Rica that landed my Husband in the ER and these wonderful humans checked on us multiple times including Gerry coming at 7am just to take me to the pharmacy! Sandy even followed up AFTER our stay to check on my husband and send well wishes! There hospitality and kindness is something I will never forget.
This was hands down the best vacation I have had with ZERO complaints every person we came in contact with was a pleasure. I cant wait to come back and stay with them again.
I can go on and on with all the wonderful things about this property and the people that run it. DONT THINK JUST BOOK!
We spent a glorious week with our 2 college-aged children in this magnificent villa. The house is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. Alex, the property manager, is an absolute Prince. He took care of every detail for us and was completely available to answer any question before and during our stay. The facilities at the Club house - pool, gym and restaurant, were an added bonus - highly recommend the guacamole prepared table side. We also secured the services of Anita to cook a few dinners and breakfasts for us and she is a lovely person and prepares delicious, local cuisine. We did the private boat tour which included a tour through the mangroves, fishing, wake boarding, snorkeling, & relaxing on private beach with 2 wonderful crew men and plenty of refreshments. We also did the Mega Tour which was a highlight of our trip - located near one of the volcanoes in a resort the trip included a day of zip lining, horseback riding, short hike to amazing waterfall, jungle water slide, volcanic mud bath and relaxing hot soaking pools. Bring cash for a cocktail while you soak and relax around the pools at the end of trip. I would also recommend a visit to Playa Hermosa - a beach 15 minutes north - more picturesque than the beach at Coco. We also enjoyed cocktails and lunch at the Look Out Restaurant (on Netflix series Restaurants on the Edge). Amazing views but would not want to attempt drive in the dark so do lunch or early evening. One word of caution, do not rent a car with Avis - there was no car for us & several other customers from our flight upon arrival. Luckily Alex was able to secure something for us but at considerable cost. A car or dedicated driver is really a must at this property as the walk to town would be very long and strenuous given the hills. And finally, the people of Costa Rica are a highlight - warm and friendly -- Pura Vida!!
After a 7 day long sailing cruise down the coast of Costa Rica, 3 couples rented this beautiful property for some R&R. Overall the house and its surroundings were perfect for this kind of stay. Waking up every day with the amazing breathtaking view alone made us give this property a 5 star rating. However despite the views, the incredibly responsive, kind and knowledgeable house managers (Alex and Gerry), and the uniquely beautiful architecture of the house, there were a few things that could have been improved or future guests should be made aware of for their stays. See notes below:
* the house is in a community with lots of new home construction right down the road, be careful when driving
* the incline to get to the house is VERY steep, you will need a 4-wheel drive vehicle including the steep driveway into the garage for parking with no guardrails in front of this driveway facing the cliff side.
* the house was minimally stocked with some essentials like paper towels and we had to ask for kitchen towels that we could use, but Gerry promptly provided them. We actually bought a lighter for the house to use for the scented candles that were provided as well.
* there was a foul smell in the garbage disposal upon arrival that never really dissipated after Gerry came by to fix it
* we had the electricity go out several times due to the construction and high winds which one day effected the pump that brought the water up the hill, so we were without water for half a day. It was resolved and Gerry and Alex were very responsive on it and apologetic.
* Be aware that you are near lots of wildlife, some of which may try and come into the home. We saw large spiders indoors and scorpions and fer-de-lance poisonous snakes on our patio, so WEAR SHOES and don't play with the animals. We did see monkeys in the trees near the house one day, AMAZING.
* the pool is NOT heated, and given the sun's direction, gets very shady and cold in the afternoon
*Be sure to shoo away the Buzzards that like to stop for a drink in the pool, they make a mess with their droppings in the pool otherwise
* the elevator bay has a slight gas smell, don't think it is a concern, just pointing it out
* the water pressure in the master bedroom shower is not ideal and when both showerheads are going, only one has hot water and the water pressure decreases more
Other than these minor adjustments, the house is A++
My friends and I gathered to celebrate our big birthday. It was perfect villa with magnificent view of the Coco bay from every rooms. Having a car is necessary at this villa. It's short drive down to the club and to grocery store to get necessary goods, as well as to the Coco town for lunch and dinners.
This was a life changing week! Incredible host. Gorgeous home with incredible views. Heard and saw wildlife and went on wonderful adventures. We will be back!!
The property is an easy barely 30 drive from the airport & car rental in a gated community. When you first drive in, there's a clubhouse for owners & guests of the property with private pool. My husband and kids used he gym there each day too. There's also a fabulous restaurant there that we ate lunch at and many dinners at. Great service from the friendly staff! This property was one of the highest on the mountain in this community. It's an enormous property, jungle, with lush trees and when we reached the home we had gorgeous views of Coco Bay.I started each day in the infinity pool which we all loved. We bonded, rested, laid out, grilled one night and watched movies on the large tv in the family room during rain showers. We were able to easily drive to nearby zip lining and horse back riding, a handful of amazing restaurants of dinners-our favorite was Mar Azul.We drove to different beaches on three different days-peaceful and beautiful. Our house manager Gerry went above and beyond to help us with any questions and concerns we had about our day trips. He even offered to set up tours for us. We felt safe, could reach him at anytime and our host Sandy. The home is very large, spacious and my mom, husband, 16, 18 and 20 year old loved the views from all the rooms and starting each day together over breakfast. It's decorated beautifully & we loved being able to use the washing machine/dryer. The kitchen has everything you need too. Thank you dear Gerry,Sandy&Alex-Pura Vida
This property is everything the pictures show and more! The interior is beautiful and the views breathtaking. But what made our family Christmas so special was the people. The house managers Gerry and Alex are wonderful human beings! They made sure we had everything we needed at all times. We even made Gerry join us for dinner! Giselle and Anita cooked absolutely delicious meals for our group of 8 and spent time just visiting with us which we really enjoyed. By the end of our trip we were all taking selfish together! We also loved the town and wandered for hours, ate at the local soda multiple times and chatted with the locals. I highly recommend as it is truly magical!
