"My family and I had a wonderful 2 week holiday in Casa De Mata. We love the peace and tranquility of the environment. The house and garden had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Jose could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this property if relaxing and spending time together as a family is what you want from a holiday."

"This is the ideal place to experience the Douro. The house was very lovely with everything we needed. It’s perfect for a family visit! It was a bit chilly for the pool but it would be nice to use in the summer for sure! Our gracious host was very attentive and provided everything we needed."

"We stayed for 3 nights. Beautiful old house, view of water below was so lovely. Enjoyed the pool but it was a little late in the year so it was just a little cold for us at our age. We still did get into it twice. Kitchen had all the pots and utensils we needed. We would love to stay here again when in Portugal."

There was no-one staying in the second property by the water but don't think it would have changed our opinion. "Everything was as advertised ,clean and functional. The host went out of her way to make sure that my experience was first class and it was. A big shout out to her neighbor who pitch hit for her When she hurt her leg. It’s very close to the train station maybe five minutes by car and it made the right into Douro very very easy."

"Great property exactly as described, and the setting and views were just the best! The local town 20 mins drive on the river is Amarante and it stole our hearts. The drive straight down the mountain to a slightly closer town Celorico de Basto is not for the faint hearted, and was not repeated. The TV was in French which was a bonus as we don't speak Portugese. The host was very accommodating of our very late arrival at 11pm due to flight issues and responded to all messages immediately.A great...

"We enjoyed our stay at the villa very much. Peaceful and tranquil, the pool area was gorgeous but the breeze in the balcony of the villa made it very pleasant during the heat of the day and the evening time. Hosts were charming, all amenities worked well…very enjoyable stay."
