The Villa is located at the foot of the Pollino National Park just 5 minutes drive from the sea and the main attractions of the Riviera dei Cedri. For lovers of relaxation who love the countryside and the sea who want to avoid the confusion of the nightlife of the Riviera, a splendid cottage surrounded by greenery can comfortably accommodate 6 adults. All in a hilly context from which you can enjoy the wonderful banks of the Abatemarco river and the castle of San Michele which can be used independently also through mountain bike trails.
The garden, the barbecue, the table tennis, the billiard table and the small swimming pool in the garden are for the exclusive use of the guests of the villa as well as the large enclosed enclosed space that serves as a parking lot.
In a totally independent area of the Villa, Massimiliano lodges that, for any difficulty or request, and to satisfy your every need, will be available without ever invading the spaces available to you and your privacy.

Retirement Celebration
We stayed at Massimiliano's home for 6 weeks. This property is everything that is described and more. Massimiliano was extremely helpful in every way and reached out to local restaurants for reservations for us. The back yard was so relaxing especially with a glass of homemade red that Massimiliano provided for us. Thank you Massimiliano for making this an epic trip.

Beautiful retreat!
I highly recommend this beautiful home. The host is very attentive. It is such a beautiful place to stay. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning with sunshine and palm trees and an incredible view of the mountains. Short drive to the sea. Kitchen stocked with everything you need for breakfast and even a bottle of wine! Plenty of space for the family and very clean. You will need a car or taxi to reach the home. Not accessible by public transportation.

Amazing!!
Absolutely stunning villa - it far exceeded our expectations! The outside garden area is beautiful and we spent most days relaxing there not wanting to move. Massimilio is the nicest, kindest person you could ever wish to meet and very generous bringing us lots of different things to try. We were very sad to leave and just wish we had booked to stay for longer - a perfect holiday!!

A Little Slice of Heaven
Our time was amazing and memorable at “La Querciaia”. Massimiliano is an amazing host who is very thoughtful and generous, and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at home. To our surprise we were welcomed with a delicious homemade cake. Massimiliano introduced us to the delights of local buffalo mozzarella cheese, fresh lemons from his trees on the property and local Calabria wine. The property is very clean and provides everything you could need. It has three good size bedrooms upstairs with amazing views of mountains and an old castle. The main floor provides ample room for dining, playing board games, and spending time together. The kitchen is fully furnished, clean and functional. All your cooking essentials were provided such as salt, sugar, spices, oil, coffee, etc. We loved the espresso coffee machine and the dishwasher! The wash machine and outdoor drying rack was appreciated with a young family. Outside is where we spent most of our time. It is set-up beautifully to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We loved the outdoor pool, ping pong and foosball table. Two different outdoor dining areas, BBQ, and a lovely covered sitting area – great spot to enjoy wine, Caprese Antipasto with fresh bread while taking in the beautiful scenery! Santa Maria del Cedro is a short jaunt to the beach (beach toys are provided) and town for supplies. A car is definitely needed for this area of Italy – my husband drove and it was a breeze compared to the Sorrento/Amalfi coast area. Santa Maria del Cedro is an ideal location to explore Calabria; with Maratea & Sapri to the north or Dimante or Paola to the south. Massimiliano provided great advice on where to shop, things to see and do with young children. The children adored his friendly dog “Clay” who was always happy to greet us! We were very sad to say goodbye and highly recommend La Querciaia for a family or 2-3 couples. Massimiliano went above and beyond when our daughter left behind a pair of earrings and he mailed them to us! Thank you Massimiliano & Clay for an amazing week!!

Wonderful welcome from Massimilio and a truly beautiful home
We had a wonderful stay at Massimilio's and were truly sorry to have to leave his wonderful home. The location is idyllic with very impressive views and a fantastically well equipped garden. We very much enjoyed breakfast outside, staring at the stunning views. We also found a very lovely beach south of Praia a Mare and liked discovering the region. Massimilio is the kindest and most delicate host one could wish for, and nothing is too much trouble to make his guests have a memorable experience, including introducing them to the local products. His house is wonderfully comfortable and one feels totally at home.

Amazing house and the best host
We spend an amazing month in La Querciaia 1946 in August 2017. The house was spotlessly clean and immaculately maintained with everything we could need for our stay. It is absolutely beautiful and tastefully furnished in country style. The pool was great for the kids and the private garden perfect to relax in. We loved the BBQ for evening cooking and there is plenty of space for us all to eat outside. It felt very private in the garden and views of the mountains are breathtaking. Massimiliano is simply the best host we ever met and such a nice person...He has done everything and more to make our stay memorable and special. He arranged for us to try different local produces during our stay and recommended great restaurants. He also organised a great boat trip for a day to see the caves along the beautiful coastline. At the end of our stay we felt that we are leaving a friend. We will miss you and Clay Russell family ( John, Oxana, Ocean, Savanna and Teddy)

Überwältigende Gastfreundschaft
Das Anwesen ist eine paradiesische Oase in der Natur. Es bietet innen und außen mehr als üppig Platz. Alles ist sehr gepflegt und liebevoll ausgestatttet. Es fehlt wirklich nicht, sogar eine Strandausstattung (Klappstühle, Sonnenschirm, Ball und Sandspielsachen) ist vorhanden. Für Selbstverpfleger ist die Küche top ausgestattet. Der größte Pluspunkt: Massimiliano ist ein wirklicher Schatz, seine Gastfreundschaft ist überwältigend, wir wurden noch nie so verwöhnt (selbstgebackener oberleckerer Kuchen, gut gefüllter Kühlschrank und diverse andere Nahrungsmittel, an der Türklinke hingen öfters mal ein Brot, Focachia oder Croissants). Unser Wohlergehen war ihm immer eine Herzensangelegenheit. Nochmals vielen herzlichen Dank. Was man wissen muss: ein Auto ist unbedingt erforderlich und ab Mitte September ist die Saison in der Region beendet und viele Restauratns, Bars und Eisdielen sind bereits geschlossen.

Het was fantastisch, voor de 4e keer!
Het was weer fantastisch, voor de 4e keer! Een groter bewijs om aan te tonen dat deze plek fantastisch is, is er volgens mij niet. Na 2 keer samen met mijn partner geweest te zijn, was het nu tijd om voor de 2e keer met mijn ouders erbij te gaan. Vorig jaar in september was het hen de eerste keer en eenmaal thuis hebben wij vrijwel direct weer geboekt. Wat is het hier altijd onwijs fijn, ik ben nog nooit ergens zo tot rust gekomen als hier iedere keer. Niet gek met zo’n fantastisch huis met vrij uitzicht op de bergen, het riviertje wat je hoort stromen, de onwijs vriendelijke host en de heerlijke rustige en prachtig groene omgeving. Wat wil je nog meer. Het huis heeft een heerlijke tuin, een pingpongtafel, biljart tafel, zwembad, ligbedden, relax stoelen/hangmat, buitendouche. En er is aan nog veel meer gedacht. Daarbij is er nog een kasteelruïne om de hoek (te zien vanuit de slaapkamer), meerdere musea in de omgeving, verschillende bezienswaardigheden en lokale winkeltjes, stranden, mooie natuur, leuke dropjes en heerlijk eten. Kortom je kan je hier wel dagen al dan niet weken vermaken. Wij kijken alweer uit naar een volgende keer, hopelijk over niet al te lang.

Wir waren zum 8 täglichen Zwischenstopp einer Italienrundreise dort und können die Unterkunft absolut empfehlen. Ein sehr freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Vermieter hat uns empfangen. Morgens wurden auf Wunsch Brot oder Brötchen geliefert und auch bei Empfehlungen zu Restaurants und dessen Reservierungen war er sehr hilfsbereit. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Traumurlaub in wunderschöner Umgebung
Unser Familienurlaub im Ferienhaus La Querciaia war einfach traumhaft! Wir haben uns hier gleich wie zu Hause gefühlt. Das Haus war überdurchschnittlich gut ausgestattet, sehr sauber und der Garten sehr gepflegt. Trotz der Hitze konnte man sich sowohl drinnen als auch im Garten gut aufhalten. Das Haus liegt absolut ruhig abseits der Touristenmassen in einem Ortsteil von Santa Maria del Cedro. Massimiliano ist ein sehr gastfreundlicher, hilfsbereiter und diskreter Vermieter. Seinen Hund Clay haben wir schon am ersten Tag ins Herz geschlossen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können die Unterkunft bedingungslos weiterempfehlen. Grazie mille a Massimiliano per la tua ospitalità e grazie di tutto!! :)

Unser Familienurlaub im La Querciaia 1946, unter der herzlichen Betreuung von Massimiliano, war schlichtweg unvergesslich! Von Anfang an beeindruckte uns seine außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft und Großzügigkeit. Gleichzeitig ist er unaufdringlich und zurückhaltend. Massimiliano ist ein herausragender Gastgeber und ein wahrer Kenner der Region. Er teilte sein umfangreiches Wissen mit uns und empfahl uns die besten Restaurants, die köstliche lokale Küche servierten. Jeder Restaurantbesuch war ein kulinarisches Erlebnis, das wir als Familie sehr genossen haben. Dank Massimilianos Tipps fanden wir auch Zugänge zum Fluss Abatemarco, die uns unvergessliche Naturerlebnisse bescherten. Wir verbrachten herrliche Tage am und im Fluss, umgeben von atemberaubender Landschaft, fernab vom Alltag. Die Großzügigkeit von Massimiliano kannte keine Grenzen. Er war stets darauf bedacht, dass es uns an nichts fehlte und dass wir uns wie zu Hause fühlten. Seine herzliche Art und seine Fürsorge machten unseren Aufenthalt zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis. Das La Querciaia 1946 und die einzigartige Gastfreundschaft von Massimiliano haben unsere Erwartungen bei Weitem übertroffen. Diese Erfahrung werden wir als Familie für immer in unseren Herzen tragen. Wenn Sie eine unvergessliche Zeit in einem top ausgestatteten Haus und einer schönen Umgebung verbringen und von einem großartigen Gastgeber umsorgt werden möchten, dann ist dieses Ferienhaus definitiv die perfekte Wahl!

Wir waren im Juni 2023 Das Haus und der dazugehörende Garten ist sehr gepflegt. Es ist genauso wie auf den Bildern, bzw beschrieben. Für das erste Frühstück war alles vorhanden, genauso überraschte er uns mit Eis, Wein oder Kirschen usw. Massimiliano ist ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber für Ratschläge steht er immer zur Verfügung. Nochmals ein GROßES DANKE Massimiliano wir kommen gerne wieder.

Für einen Aufenthalt ca. 6km vom Meer entfernt, kann man nicht meckern. Die schönsten Strände muss man sich aber selber suchen. Wenn man sich auf die Bewoner und die Kultur einlässt und Italien liebt, dann ist es schön dagewesen zu sein! Den Vermieter haben wir gut kennengelernt.

Einzigartiger Urlaub
Wir hatten noch nie einen so ausgewöhnlichen Gastgeber wie Massimiliano und es war uns eine Ehre seine Gäste zu sein. Er war immer da, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Wenn wir eine Frage hatten war er immer erreichbar und hat sie beantwortet oder sich gekümmert. Zur Begrüßung fanden wir alles Wichtige bereits vor Ort. Er hat uns einen unglaublich guten Kuchen gebacken, Bier und Getränke waren im Kühlschrank, Kaffee war in ausreichender Menge vorhanden, Frühstücksutensilien sowie Leckereien für die Kinder, Büffelmozzarella und Wassermelone ebenso. So etwas hatten wir noch nie und waren sprachlos. Massimiliano hat uns jeden morgen frische Brötchen vom Bäcker gebracht und auf Wunsch auch frische Eier vom Nachbarn. Zwischendurch brachte er uns Eis aus der Paticceria Aronne in Marcellina vorbei (das beste Meloneneis, das ich jemals gegessen habe) und für alles wollte er einfach kein Geld von uns annehmen. Er sagte immer nur es ist ihm wichtig, dass es uns gut geht und wir die Produkte seiner Heimat kennenlernen. So eine Gastfreundschaft haben wir noch nie erlebt. Das Haus war sehr sauber und gepflegt, ebenso der Garten, Pool und die Terrasse. Ein Highlight ist der Billardtisch, an dem wir zusammen jeden Abend einige Runden gespielt haben. Sein Hund namens Clay haben wir auch sehr ins Herz geschlossen, er ist sehr lieb und die Kinder vermissen ihn jetzt schon. Trotz mangelnder italienisch Kenntnisse hat die Kommunikation mit Massimiliano immer besten funktioniert. Die Gegend um Santa Maria del Cedro ist sehr schön, leider konnten wir diese nicht ausgiebig erkunden, da es sehr schwül war und wir die meiste Zeit am Meer verbracht haben. Die freien Strände in Praia a Mare und Diamante sind sehr schön, aber Ende August auch sehr überfüllt, da viele Italiener zu dieser Zeit an den Stränden sind. Wir waren immer am Acchio-Fiumicello Beach der 10 min. entfernt und nicht so überlaufen ist. Massimilianos zwei Restaurantstipps waren wirklich der Hammer. Er hat für uns auch die Tischreservierung übernommen, wofür wir ihm aufgrund unserer geringen italienischen Kenntnisse sehr dankbar waren. Leider konnten wir erst am letzten Abend im Farmhouse La Rondinella in Scalea essen gehen, da vorher keine Tische mehr frei waren, aber das Warten hatte sich gelohnt. Es war einfach nur ein Gedicht. Ein MUSS, wenn man Urlaub in der Region macht. Wir könnten noch mehr schwärmen und wenn es möglich gewesen wäre hätten wir mehr wie 5 Sterne vergeben. Einfach nur zu empfehlen!

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Urlaub! Eine wunderschöne Region und ein gut ausgestattetes Haus. Massimilano ist ein herzlicher und sehr bemühter Gastgeber. Wir würden dort immer wieder unseren Urlaub verbringen.

Fantastic again!
Such a special place. We felt right at home here. Last time and this time directly. The second time in this beautiful house, the time has flown by way too fast. Fortunately, we were able to book two extra days. But 9 days wasn't really enough either… We were never this relaxed as in La Querciaia. We will miss it terribly when we are back in the Netherlands. The large beautiful green garden with fantastic views and with all its nice seating areas, the lovely swimming pool and a favorite: the table tennis table. really an oasis of peace. Inside the house it is so wonderfully spacious and cozy. The bedroom with good air conditioning is very nice. We also gratefully made use of the more than complete kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher! We even baked a pie with lemons from the garden and eggs from the neighbor. Everything has been thought of, but really everything. Stuff for a day at the beach, a drying rack with pegs, a food processor, you name it and it's there. And then I forget the great pool table. I repeat myself, but you just don't enough much time here. Not only in and around the house, but also the surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty to discover. For example the river below in the valley or the ruins you can see from the bedroom. And then last but not least, the owner. You will not easily find such a host, perhaps even unique. And we also have the sweet dog in our hearts. Especially Sam will miss his little friend. Massimiliano does everything for his guests. We again enjoyed all the bread and goodies (cupboards are never empty on arrival), conversations and the tips he gave us. No goodbye for us as we will be back very soon!

Wunderschönes Haus in wunderschöner Umgebung
Wir hatten eine fantastische Woche. Die Fotos entsprechen der Realität, aber eigentlich ist es noch viel schöner! Massimiliano ist der beste Gastgeber, den es gibt. Er hat uns zur Begrüßung einen selbst gebackenen Kuchen und Wein mitgebracht und auch später lokalen Käse, Wein und Brot geschenkt, unglaublich, diese Gastfreundschaft! Um die wunderbare Umgebung zu erkunden braucht man unbedingt ein Auto. Und im Oktober ist in vielen kleinen Ortschaften und auch am Meer die Saison vorbei und viele Restaurants schon geschlossen, so dass wir zum Abendessen immer nach Scalea gefahren sind. Wir würden jederzeit wieder bei Massimiliano Urlaub machen und können es nur empfehlen!!!

Sehr zu empfehlen, schönes Haus in herrlicher Lage
Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen dreiwöchigen Urlaub benötigt. Das Haus ist sauber und ebenso wie der Garten sehr gepflegt. Massimiliano ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber, dem das Wohl seiner Gäste am Herzen liegt. Er hat uns während unseren Aufenthalts mit frischen Brötchen, Kuchen, Wein, Gebäck und landestypischen Spezialitäten verwöhnt. Bereits bei der Ankunft war im Kühlschrank alles, was man für das erste Frühstück braucht. Es gibt auch eine Kaffeemaschine mit Pads. Auch die Kaffeepads sind in großer Menge vorhanden. Massimilianos Hund Clay ist freundlich und ruhig. Die Lage ist fantastisch, man hat vom Garten einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Hügel des Hinterlandes, das Meer ist gut erreichbar, ganz in der Nähe ist eine Ruine, die besichtigt werden kann und ein kleiner Fluss. Wir haben unseren Urlaub bei Massimiliano sehr genossen. Die Kommunikation gelingt auf Englisch und Italienisch, via Whatsapp und mit Unterstützung von Google Übersetzer konnten wir alles super klären. Massimiliano hat unsere Fragen schnell beantworten und uns zudem Tipps für Ausflüge oder zu Restaurants gegeben. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus sehr empfehlen. La casa è fornita di tutto l’ indispensabile per una vacanza di tre settimane. La casa cosi come il giardino sono puliti e in ordine. Il proprietario Massimiliano è una persona sempre disponibile e cortese. Durante il nostro soggiorno ci ha sorpreso con pane fresco, torte, vino, cornetti e tipiche specialità della zona. Al nostro arrivo abbiamo trovato il frigorifero con tutto l’indispensabile per la prima colazione del giorno seguente. Una macchina del caffe con cartucce fa parte dell’ arredamento. Il cane del proprietario Clay è silenzioso e docile. La zona in cui si trova la casa è favolosa, dal giardino si possono ammirare le colline dell’ interno calabrese, il mare è ben raggiungibile, nei dintorni si trova un vecchio castello (rudere) e un ruscello per una passeggiata pomeridiana. Il soggiorno ha soddisfatto completamente le nostre aspettative. La Comunicazione per quanto ci riguarda si è svolse in inglese oppure in italiano, tramite WhatsApp e con l’aiuto di traduttori online, senza grossi problemi. Massimiliano ha sempre prontamente risposto alle nostre domande. Per i sui consigli su ristoranti e escursioni le siamo molto grati. Un posto in cui ritornerei volentieri.
