Loved it all except for the long stairwell to carry our luggage.

It was a good overnight stay and the degustation dinner was lovely, although staff very much went on auto pilot in their description of course, no real passion or knowledge shown but no complains on food, great chef.. Not great to have such a small car park for so many rooms, not happy to park on the road even if it is free. The room seems really lovely at 1st but actually it was a little tired - cracked tile around basin in bathroom, chips on furniture. I would have expected it to be top notch condition. Shower - OK but again not great, everywhere got soaking wet. Bed was lovely and room spacious with good robe

Wasnt impressed when entering the room, you could see rubbish and hair on the carpet. The room needs to be thoroughly vacuum. Could see bit of rubbish under the bed side table and chairs. There was a small window that was missing a curtain so couldn't leave the drapes opened or people could have a partial view of inside the room.
Once checked in the receptionist walked me to my room and let me know how to access the pool, which was a lovely touch. The room was large and had sky tv. The only thing was it was abit noisy from the noise from the bars a few doors down but that was due to staying over the weekend and really shouldn't complain as the location was about a minute walk to eat street and all tourist spots.l
Fantastic location 50 ft from eat street and the main turist street in the quiet side of downtown. Great room (2 room suite) if you travel with family.
Excellent stay as always
Warm and helpful staff Heat pump in room playing up and moved to new room promptly
Superb food
See you next time !

Disliked: Amenities
The Regent is really well located for an evening out in the many nearby restaurants. It still feels relatively new and well looked after. We have stayed before and really enjoyed it, however, this time there were a couple of disappointments. The mineral pool was advertised as being open from 9am so I had planned a dip before having to head away around 10.30am. When I noticed it was still closed at 9am I was told that it was only half full and not ready until 10am. Unfortunately, this did not leave me enough time to use it. Bit frustrating because it seemed like bad planning on a busy holiday weekend. Super important to manage guest expectations - and the mineral pool was definitely one of the draw cards for deciding to book this hotel. It seems that the importance of these features to guests has been overlooked. The other disappointment is the lack of parking now that their large dedicated parking space has been taken up by a new accommodation block. We had to park just outside on the street - not a major given parking was free over the weekend, but another unexpected. One final minor annoyance is the fact that the housekeeping station was next door to our room and in the morning the housekeepers had positioned their trolley outside our window and were chatting - a bit disruptive when trying to have a lie-in. Having said all of this, the hotel still has plenty of good points, including, comfy beds, good check-in and out experience, so would consider staying again.
The hotel is a uniquely decorated boutique hotel. It was about a 10 minute walk from the tourist info bldg. and a quick walk to the food alley and the waterfront promenade. We were allocated a very spacious suite on ground level in the bdlg. close to the hotel entrance. However, the room had its drawbacks. The TV is located too far from the beds for easy viewing ... we assume the designers assumed people would sit on the sofa to watch . Our room had a locked connecting door to an adjacent room . The door was beside our bathroom and in the area where there was a mini kitchen. However, we could hear the smallest of sounds through the door and we assume the guest on the other side could hear us too. Our room was located right beside the entrance to this wing. The door was left standing wide open and unsecured in the daytime, leaving us feel a little vulnerable as people could conceivably wander in from the street as it was not being watched from the front desk. At night, the door was closed and patrons needed to use their room key to access the entry. However, it was noisy for us hearing people enter and slam the entry door right beside us. Another drawback to our room was that the blinds needed to be kept closed at all times. We did have a patio right outside our sliding doors, but beyond that was the street where passerbys could look in. We did sit by the pool one morning. It was a lovely little setting.
We did eat breakfast off the menu in the restaurant .

Our favourite accommodation in NZ. A beautiful hotel with just the best location. A minute’s walk to Eat Street and just a few more to the CBD and other attractions around town. We had a lovely room with a private courtyard, the bed and pillows were super comfy and it was all very clean. The bathroom was great - large shower with good water pressure and double vanity basins and mirrors. Wonderful smelling toiletries and they even provided toothbrushes. The weekend staff were very helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough.
We booked this hotel after reading that it had a rating of 9.4, but we’re sooo disappointed. Nothing about this hotel warranted it’s description as luxury. We booked a 2 bdrm apartment but there was barely enough room for 2 in the sitting room. There were holes in the walls, lights didn’t work, the wood of bathroom sink was swollen from water. The ‘patio’ was two plastic chairs under the outdoor staircase, honestly I thought I was staying in a dingy student flat. The house keeper we met was super friendly, but front office staff gave no eye contact, didn’t asked if we enjoyed our stay and dismissed me with a ‘you’re good to go’. Whatever you do, don’t let them check you in to Room 9. It’s just not good enough.

No longer have much onsite parking but otherwise a lovely property.
Two nights and it couldn't have been a better stop over. The hotel is very well presented with lovely rooms, swimming pool (warm) and mineral pool (hot) which you can reserve for your own use. Minutes walk to lots of places to eat but we had breakfast in both mornings as so good. The staff could not be better. When we spoke to any staff or asked for help/advice they went out of their way to be helpful. Only downside is parking but is not a show stopper as lots of free parking on the top road, a minutes walk away, is available if needed. Check-in and out was quick and smooth.
