"Be prepared to live out of your suitcase, no storage, very small casita. Lots of issues with hot water, due to being of grid. Long ways from San Pedro or secret beach so golf cart is a must. "

"The Black Orchid is a beautiful property. The staff was amazing and the grounds stunning. Unfortunately, we were only there for one night, but we enjoyed the pool, grounds, and hearing the howler monkeys was an unexpected treat. "

"Chan Chich is an exquisite adventure melding together experiencing Mayan Ruins, jungle experience with a conservation twist. We loved our daily interactions with staff to include Cali who is an expert mixologist, Emil who made everything look easy, Sean who always had a smile, and the wonderful cook Ian. Every meal was absolutely amazing! Maria and Abdiel took care of all our needs at reception including booking excursions and chartering flights. And of course our expert guides Ruben and Louise who knew every bird and the Gallon Jug Flora and Fauna like professors. They are able to share their knowledge about archaeology, medicinal plants, and wild edibles. They know every animal and animal trail and to be on a tour with them in action is truly an experience of a lifetime! I would tell all my friends about this location and go back again! "I found this property looking for a layover spot. The more I looked at the listing the more appealing it became so I added an extra night. So glad I did!! I rented a car at BZE and drive and it was unbelievably easy to find/get to. The location gives you the impression you’re very far from a city. It’s quiet and private. There is currently construction going on to add new houses, which was not an issue AT ALL. I am very happy for the owners and managers for the added revenue (and there will be a pool!) but I can say that it will be a little less private when they are booking. Nonetheless our stay was incredible and the workers were so considerate. Kenny stopped by with his daughters and they are all so wonderful! We spent only one full day so we hung out with the howler monkeys and visited the Belize zoo and wildlife education center, which is only a very easy 30 minute drive and worth a visit. The monkeys on the property were soooo cool. There is currently an adolescent who is quite curious about people and LOVES to show off. He came right up on the porch to show us his yoga moves. That said, remember they are wild animals - don’t touch or feed them and latch the doors when you leave. The crocodile only made her appearance when we were out but she’s there! Just searching for her and watching the monkeys is activity in itself! There’s a good kitchen and a restaurant about a 3 minute drive away (black orchid, where you are allowed access to the pool - great food and service!)."

"We had the best time here. The hosts, Shanna and Kenny were great, super responsive and very helpful with planning things to do. Ernesto, one of the drivers was also fantastic and super helpful. The locals and neighbors around the house were very friendly. A grocery store was located near by and we were able to get most of what we needed to make our meals. Dee has a small bar next door and a small shop where you can get some basics. Dee was so friendly. A Howler Monkey troop came right onto the property one of the days and they were fun to watch. Another Howler Monkey troop spends most of its time across the street at Lloyd’s. Lloyd was happy to allow us on his property to check them out. The accommodations were great. There was a washer and dryer on site that worked well. We did not want to leave and we will definitely be back!"
