Amazing Jungle Tree House right over the river with bikes and canoe

"You will not be disappointed -We recently build 3 modern cabins but the Howler House sits high in the jungle canopy over the Belize river just 20 mins from the airport. This is an off the beaten track experience in a unique and friendly village undiscovered by travellers yet central to everything. If you want to experience the local Belize and make some new friends, Kenny and Shana will pick you up and show you all Belize has to offer the curious visitor. Or, I can assist with a rental.
This sweet little tree house sits in the jungle canopy perched high on the edge of the Belize River. With Howler monkey families in the trees, crocodiles in the pond, butterflies and songbirds in the air, this is a unique piece of jungle paradise that offers you an amazing holiday destination. We have a canoe and two bicycles for you.
The house has HIGH SPEED WIRELESS internet with and is NETFLIX enabled. The bedroom has a majestic view over the river and a new queen size bed. The main bathroom has a shower with HOT WATER - no tub. The little bedroom sits off the screened in deck with a single bed and hooks for hammocks. The kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, fridge and double sinks and dishes and pots and pans and bowls enough to enjoy cooking.

As well, ALL your transportation needs can be taken care of - if required. The international airport is just 20 min from the House and Kenny and Shana will pick you up, take you shopping for supplies and give you a tour of the village and check you into the house, they also provide transportation ANYWHERE you might want to explore while in Belize -- and fill you full of local knowledge. Touring with Kenny will show you how to really experience what Belize has to offer the curious visitor. If you want to use Kenny's services, I will provide you with his email and you can make arrangements with Kenny.

The village of Burrell Boom is wonderfully central to Mayan ruins, caves, zip-lining, horse-back riding, the zoo, and a good day trip to Hopkins beach -- which is a unique Garifuna village, remarkable diving sites and ocean fishing are also a day trip away. I can help you arrange transportation and/or tours to any part of the country you may dream of exploring.

While the house is a perfect romantic getaway for two, if you want to bring along family or friends, they are welcome to hang hammocks on the two screened in decks and make use of an extra single bed on the outside screened in deck. I ask for an addition $25 per night for an extra guest. The outside deck is huge, and you will probably spend most of your time there.

While the Howler House is nestled on the riverbank high in the canopy and you feel like you are deep in the jungle — really, it is just a 10 -minute walk up to the sweetest little village. If you are using his transportation services Kenny will be happy to give you a little tour of the village. But, most convenient, the Howler House is located centrally to all the activities you might want to enjoy while in Belize.
In the village you can paddle the river, go fishing and bicycling, the wildlife is amazing - birdwatchers are in heaven here; the Howler Monkeys live in the trees above us. Star-gazing and sipping on local wines is magical.
Close to home, there is a grocery store that sells local wines, rum and cold beer and a few groceries. And, the village pub, a short walk or bicycle ride away, serves ice cold beers, homemade juicy hamburgers and a delicious fried chicken or fish dinner for five bucks at Miss Carol's.They also have a pool table if you want to hang around and meet some very sweet locals and perhaps hear a good story or two. There is also a great Chinese Food restaurant in the village. And, people are soooo friendly here, if you want to, you'll make friends with the locals with ease. On Friday evenings people gather in the park to watch the teenagers play soccer and they have music and snacks and cold drinks for sale. Later, if you are a night owl, there is always dancing at Henderson's Bank on Friday and Saturday nights, just a 5 min walk away. And, there is a huge horse race track, with races on Sundays and Holidays - people come from all over for the races -- it's exciting.
A wonderful day (or overnight) trip from the house is to Cay Caulker, 90 minutes away via Belize City. You can arrange a drive with Kenny, catch the early ferry (45 mins) and spend a day exploring the Cay, or take one of the many snorkeling, diving, sailing or kayaking tours, and be back in time for dinner. Or, if you'd like to spend more time on the island, spend a night and Kenny will pick you up the next day. We can help with arranging accommodations for you too.

If you want help with travel arrangements to Belize, just let me know.

Or, you may choose to just spend your time of the Howler House deck where you can take amazing photographs, bird-watch, wait for the crocodile(s) to surface and perhaps sun themselves on the bank, get to know the howler monkeys (they like Reggie music), sit still and a Blue Morpho butterfly with an 8-inch wingspan will eventually float by. Play the stock market on-line on high-speed Wi-Fi. Lie under a gentle fan, swing in the hammock and read a good book. Write a poem, a song, a book or a blog. Watch the sun rise and the river float by, caste a line and catch a fish – yes, right from the deck when the river is flooding.

Here is my favourite Review so far:
"We spent the most unbelievable three nights at the Howler House. It was an experience to remember! The jungle setting was absolutely perfect. If you're looking for peace and quiet with only the sounds of the jungle, this is the place for you. We were picked up at the airport by a friend of Kenny's (the usual driver), Micha. WHAT A GUY!!! Micha really went out of his way to ensure that we got everything that we needed before dropping us off at the Howler House. We stopped at a grocery store on the way to the house. Make a list before hand if you can. It's a huge store! We picked up dish soap, coffee filters and toilet paper but they were not needed, so don't pick them up as they are provided. Eggs, bacon, bread and butter were all available at the store. We made breakfast everyday and enjoyed it on the screened in porch. There really is everything that you need to cook anything at the house. The canoe was a great added bonus. We took it out twice, fished a little and saw the Howler's in the trees! The bikes were also key. We took a ride through Burell Boom (sweetest little town), had fried chicken, (the best fries) and beer at Miss Carol's and spent an afternoon at the swimming pool at the Black Orchid. Fantastic drinks and we had the pool and hammocks all to ourselves. Kenny took us out for a half day trip to Bacab Eco Park. About 15 minutes from the Howler House. There we went on an hour long horseback ride through the jungle, spent a few hours at the pool and went for a stroll through the Medicinal Trail ($80.00 US each). They had delicious cheeseburgers and the drinks were also tasty (additional cost)! Take bug spray. I did get a few big fly bites. Mosquitos don't come out until about 6:00PM and are gone by 6:30PM-7:00PM. Hang out in the screened in porch during this time and they won't get to you! We did not have any issues with bugs in the house. Simply allow the doors to close behind you :-). The shower was one of my favourite parts of the house! Wide open and overlooking the jungle. It feels as though you are outside. We loved the Howler House, it made our trip! We've already recommended it to many friends and family members! Thank you Erika, Kenny, Shana & Micha!"

Amazing Experience
We LOVED the Howler House. Shanna was an excellent host. She communicated early about transportation and helped us get a tour booked to see the Mayan Ruins and a Ziplining tour. Without her our traveling experience would have been challenging. We loved being in the jungle and seeing the howler monkeys right off the deck was such a cool experience. We were concerned about the bugs but that was not an issue as long as you keep the house doors closed. The bikes were a huge plus to explore the small town.

Cozy and Quiet get away
We had a wonderful stay at Howler house! Shanna was great and so helpful planning our excursions. We epecially had fun with the cave tubing and the guide she set us up with. We saw a lot of howler monkeys, the little croc guarding the bridge, and we even saw a tapir visiting the house. This was a very nice and different get away and I look foreward to coming back for a visit!

How many places can you feed a troup of howler monkeys mangoes off of the front porch? You can here! Thank you Shanna and Kenny for such an amazing stay. Hopefully we'll see you again.

Up close with Howlers
We enjoyed our short stay at the Howler House, up close with howler monkeys. I've been interested in staying here in years past, but the property wasn't available for our dates. This year we lucked out.

Howler House is spectacular and I wish we had more than one day to stay. It's quiet and totally beautiful with lots of trees and river views. Shanna and Kenny were great hosts. We heard howlers across the river and four toucan perched in the trees. We walked to a nearby market and cooked dinner in a well stocked kitchen. It's very relaxed and highly recommended!

Amazing
Had the best time staying here. It was so cute. The place was very clean, fully stocked kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer. The hosts were responsive and friendly. The locals were friendly and informative. We saw the howler monkeys everyday which my kids loved. The local restaurants had amazing food. If you are planning any excursions talk to the hosts as they do them and they cost less and they pretty much assist in all activities.

Pretty close to a jungle experience
We stayed for two nights. Bugs will be something to account for, and the second single bed doesn’t have a bug net. Shanna was our guide — she was lovely; she set up some tours for us. The guide who took us on those tours, Wentworth, was nice and friendly as well. The stay was not luxurious, but it did feel close to the jungle and it was an interesting experience.

Picture Perfect!!!
Howler House lived up to all our expectations. Erica, and Tinie made it possible to enjoy the jungle! A special thanks to Kenny and Shana for sharing their knowledge of medicinal plants, Burrell Broom, Howler Monkeys, Belizean dance, food and family life. If you are lucky enough to go to Belize take a cultural tour with Kenshan tours, exceptional people. Also big hugs to Geraldine and Miss Carol for their yummy food. The people of Belize are very friendly and the Howler House is the perfect place to chill!

Amazing Riverside Romantic Retreat
Where do I begin, first if you're looking around this area just stop looking & book this little gem now! We seen Howler monkeys on our first evening upon arrival, even a baby! Seen the little croc too! We loved everything about this stay, but what really set it apart from our other stays during our vacation in Belize was Shaunna and Kenny! Wow we took a trip booked through them to the ATM cave and loved it so much we booked the half day snorkeling tour the following day!!! I highly recommended both and if we would have stayed longer we would have done even more! Kenny knows so much about Belize, Shauna is so attentive and checked in on us so much, I am so grateful we booked with them!!!

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Howler House. When we walked inside, we noticed the cleanliness of the property. Kenny took us to a local bakery, meat shop, and grocery where we were able to buy food to cook. At this point in our trip, we were ready to skip the restaurants. We also stopped at a roadside food stand and were able to buy a lunch of chicken, beans, and rice. We enjoyed seeing more of the local culture at these places. The place is much bigger than expected with a lot of outdoor decks to enjoy viewing the peacefulness of the river. There are fans everywhere, but be prepared--it is hot and humid. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it if you want an adventure. We did not see any wildlife. My husband tried the canoe, but the dock is not in good shape in which to launch

This is a lovely, secluded retreat. We saw so many reviews of monkeys and animals, sadly that was not our experience. The hosts are lovely and extremely helpful. Be aware that this is VERY rustic stay, so be prepared for massive bug issues and extreme heat. The fans help, but if you are not prepared to sleep in 85 degree weather with massive humidity- this is uncomfortable. We were a bit naive about the reality of this, not the fault of the owners, just not the best choice for us. We would have loved to have encountered the monkeys. We were able to hear 1x. This is a great option for those wanting a more rugged look at jungle options.

Wildlife Photography!
Greeted at the airport by Kenny, we were off to Howler House. As promised, a troop of Black Howler monkeys peered down at us from the trees as we arrived!. Howler House is a rustic, but well appointed cottage in the tiny town over-looking the Belize river. The property managers, Kenny and his wife Shana were excellent hosts. They arranged all of our excursions for cave tubing, Mayan ruins, monkey reserve, and a tour to San Ignacio. All tours included transportation, personal guide, and lunch. If you are interested in seeing Belize as it's residents live it, this is your ticket. The cottage had everything we needed, and we loved that we were surrounded by porches, both screened and unscreened, to view our wild neighbors. Toucans, parrots, Coati, Howlers, we saw them all. Tho prepared for mosquitos, it has been dry, and they were blessedly absent. The cottage is exactly as pictured, and included reliable WiFi, in case you want to stay connected.

Away from it all!
It is as advertised, "An escape from the noise of society!" If you want to feel like a part of nature rather than a part of the party scene or tourist crowd then this is your place. You do have to be ok with nature's animals, insects, sounds, sights and smells to enjoy your stay. If you love those things then once again you will have a great stay. You will be alarmed at time by certain sounds and critters at first but after some time you will get use to it and in fact come to think of it as your special private "Bat Cave." I mean, really. How many places can you stay that will have wild monkeys visit you on your balcony and roof, and have a small crocodile in your private pound in front of your flat? Exactly! Kenny and Shanna will answer any question you may have and Kenny will be there any day that you need him to be to take you into town or shop, or take you to tours. He is extremely knowledgeable about every person, place or thing of importance in Belize. So, you can get all the assistance you will ever need from Kenny and Shanna. Like its photos, the place is well equipped with all the necessities of cabin life. You will have plenty of fans to keep you cool throughout your stay. If you are an A.C. person, this is not your place. Also, WiFi was an issue for me so you may have trouble connecting. Therefore, you must be careful if you are using your phone and calling from the WiFi. I accumulated quite a bit of roaming charges and data charges that I had to pay upon my return, so be aware of your service and connection. This was the only negative thing I experienced. The bikes are a bonus and were much appreciated. You can use them to get around the local areas (store, park, restaurants, etc.). All in all, it is a great place to stay and retreat from the hustle and bustle of most of our everyday lives. I recommend it for the adventurer at heart, or the couple who desires to feel like they are in their own private jungle.

The Howler House lived up to it’s name! As we arrived a family of Hower monkeys came to eat from the trees above! I had one night in Belize and wanted to experience the rain forest. Here we got to see the friendly croc in the river, red and green iguanas in the tree outside, parrots, monkeys and more! We lounged in the hammocks and took the canoe out for a ride. No AC but fans kept us plenty cool! We hired Kenny as transportation and he took us everywhere we wanted and shared a wealth of information! We had an amazing time here!

I loved the location and serenity of this place. But best of all was the wildlife! Howler monkeys come up really close, like right to the front trees. The setting is magnificent with howler monkeys, birds galore, iguanas and the mosquito eating geckos on the Belize River. All of this and only 6 miles to the airport. Loved this stay!
If you are looking for a jungle experience, you will love this one. You have one neighbor in site and a lot of river and trees. When you wake up in the morning you will hear birds in plenty and look out of the bed to a great view of the Belize river. If you are a resort person and want to be waited on this place is not for you, although making a change might be exciting and fun. The mosquito population outdoors is vicious, but the screens on the house are pretty effective. This house is a good base for other exploration. We did the Mayan pyramids at Tikal in Guatemala, the beach in Caye Caulker and the cave adventure Actun Tuichal Mikal from this base. This will be a vacation we always will talk about!

Incredible Vacation!
The previous reviews are no understatement of how wonderful this place is! Tenie, Kenny, Shana, and Raoul were gracious hosts and the friendliest people you may ever meet! The town was welcoming and lovely. Monkey cruised through the trees off the porch as the breeze came off the river. Tons of wildlife around a beautifully situated treehouse making you feel more relaxed than you can imagine. Thanks Erika for sharing your serene getaway with us, we will be back! Allison
