Step inside, and you'll be greeted by a harmonious fusion of old-world charm and modern comforts. Each nook and cranny tells a story, inviting you to unwind with a good book or savor a leisurely cup of coffee. With spacious sitting rooms, a formal dining area, and ample sleeping quarters, the Dewey House is tailor-made for unforgettable family gatherings and intimate getaways alike. Beyond its walls lies a picturesque sanctuary, nestled amidst lush grounds and towering trees. Set atop an old mill complex, the Dewey House overlooks the tranquil waters of Dewey's Pond, offering a mesmerizing backdrop for relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you're soaking in the serenity from the expansive back deck or exploring the surrounding countryside, every moment spent at the Dewey House is a celebration of New England's rich history and natural beauty.
Enter through the grand main entrance and you’ll find a beautiful, handcrafted staircase – evoking the charm of yesteryear. To your left you will find the great room with a large smart TV and a cozy wood burning fireplace. Continue to the elegant formal dining room, with enough seating for up to 12. The kitchen – fully stocked with for all your cooking needs, lies just beyond. You’ll also enjoy the breakfast room with stocked coffee and wonderful views out to Dewey’s Pond.
The inviting "Map Room," located on the first floor, off the formal dining room, sets the stage for cozy gatherings and memorable moments. Complete with an attached bathroom featuring a relaxing tub, this delightful spot is perfect for the kids to hang out and even offers a pull-out, queen-sized sleeper sofa for added convenience.
As you explore the second floor, you will discover a spacious master bedroom at the top of the stairs, offering serene views of Dewey's Pond. The light-filled sitting room welcomes you with a cozy queen size bed. Step through the open closet area to find a queen-sized bed, accompanied by a comfortable lounge/dressing room and ensuite bathroom (tub only). On the opposite end of the second floor awaits another generously sized bedroom with a queen bed, connected to an attached bedroom with an additional queen bed. Completing the second floor is a convenient 3/4 bath in the hallway, serving both bedrooms.
Venture up to the third floor, where a music room awaits, complete with a collection of instruments and chairs.

We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Quechee Lakes Rentals by Portoro uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.
• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 3 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.

• You’ll definitely need your own car, as there are limited taxis available. While the town itself is walkable, it will be necessary to drive to nearby hikes and sightseeing spots. The outer parts of town, such as South Woodstock, are only conveniently accessed by car.
• Bike rentals are available in the village, though biking in the commercial area of the village is discouraged, as the flow of people and cars can be concentrated. The terrain has many hills, and a mountain bike should be used to traverse such rugged areas.
