Walking trail to Koroni (35 min)
The area of Agia Triada is a wonderful rural settlement just 5 minutes from the historic village of Koroni, where you can find nice restaurants, shops, cafes, bakeries etc. A must visit is the Venetian castle of Koroni, which is still inhabited.
Starting from Agia Triada you can discover the beautiful medieval castles of Koroni, Methoni and Pylos, as well as the amazing city of Ancient Messini, and the Palace of Nestor, one of the greatest kings during the Mycenaen period. At the same time, you can take a trip to the waterfalls of Polilimnio, hike the amazing Kalamari waterfall in Gialova, kayak the gulf of Navarino, or the gulf of Koroni, assist the association Archelon which protects the caretta-caretta sea turtles, explore the area by sea with Fishing and Dreaming boat in Koroni, or just spend your days on a number of amazing sandy beaches. For those wishing to explore a bit further, there are many great options such as the Unesco World Heritage Sites of Mystras and the Temple of Apollo Epicurius in Bassae, the old city of Kardamyli and more.
As for food, who doesn’t love Meditteranean cuisine! and you are at the right place to discover all the flavors of the Messinian diet.
Agia Triada Beach
It is one of the most beautiful, non-organized beaches of the area. A small bay with clear waters in a magnificent scenery of argil hills full of old fossils. A great beach for young children that learn how to swim, as the waters are calm and gradually deepen. From bright blue waters in the morning, to emerald green in the afternoon, it is not by chance that we call it our “blue lagoon”.
Whether you are looking to indulge in the beauty of nature and the sea, or to discover pieces of Greek history and heritage, or to experience Greek hospitality, Messinia has it all.
Car is suggested to be able to go around and visit Koroni and other villages and historical sites. For walk lovers, there is also the option to walk to Koroni taking the old rural road (might be tiring for to use it as to do your everyday shopping to Koroni etc. but wonderful for walks and exploring the area)
