Best Vacation of my life
If you are looking to see wildlife, this is your place! The layout of the property is wonderful. We explored the rocks just off the beach and found a tidal pool. Love that they compost and only replace towels every other day. Every person we encountered was friendly and helpful. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you so much!

A wonderful stay
An outstanding location ... peaceful and serene. The house was extremely easy to slip into the flow, with the main area to commune and separate living space all with amazing views where one could have alone time. The staff were very friendly and available if needed but left us to ourselves which was wonderful.

Love Matapalo!
We had a wonderful stay. Our host and his wife were so helpful from greeting us on our late arrival to giving us a ride to town the following day so we could get our rental car. The property was beautiful and loved waking up to tropical birds and monkeys every morning. The home was amazing. I would come back again and recommend this listing to others. :)

Wonderful Property
We (2 couples) spent 5 nights at this wonderful home and enjoyed every minute. The home provided a perfect combination of togetherness and privacy. We have stayed at other homes in the area and Ximena's property offers a few things that others don't - a high end refrigerator with ice maker, a freezer, ample kitchen supplies, and great Wi-Fi. We will definitely return.

Cabo Matapalo family vacation
Beautiful house, beauty location and great service on all levels. Rooms were cleaned each day which was a pleasant surprise. Isaac and family took great care of us. We traveled early May and it was very, very hot and surprisingly lots of mosquitos. Cannot close off rooms so bug nets over beds are essential and house would benefit from an upgrade to more powerful fans especially in rooms to help when it is so hot.

Amazing Stay
This was one of the most amazing places I have ever visited. The pictures can’t do it justice. Once you venture down the road to the house - the adventure starts! You definitely need a 4x4! The house blends in with the natural environment and you see that with every detail. We were only a family of four but 2 families could have stayed here with room to spare. The main living area is open air and we enjoyed cooking all of our meals in the well appointed kitchen . The pool area was perfect for relaxing and cooling off at the end of a busy day exploring. The seating area by the ocean was breathtaking and my favorite place to enjoy coffee in the morning. My favorite was the bedrooms. Imagine laying in bed in a tastefully decorated room and listening to the ocean waves only a few away. The mystifying sounds of the howler monkeys will wake you up in the morning and you will be delighted by the screeching of the Scarlett macaws in the background. It was the soundtrack of our visit I was worried about the bugs as my son attracts bugs everywhere. I don’t think we saw more than a few and nothing that bit. There was no issues at all with bugs. The caretaker was kind and helpful and we were able to get our laundry done while there. We came to the area to appreciate wildlife and staying at this property was more than we could imagined Don’t hesitate- it was the highest of our trip to Costa Rica . By

Awesome!
Great stay at Casa Marmari's! Beautifully landscaped. Isaac and Desiree were fantastic hosts and I would recommend that she cook any fresh fish or chicken for you. Delicious! The only thing that could be improved was that the neighbor's generator was on several nights until 11:00 pm which hindered the peaceful tranquility. Maybe Ximena could speak with the neighbors and come to an agreement on appropriate hours? Thank you for the hikes, surfing and town runs Isaac and Desiree. The seven of us will be back.

Casa Maramis is a lovely beachfront property not far from the small town of Puerto Jimenez. The owner was quick to respond to my inquiry and questions. The home is spacious and comfortable. Issac and Desiree are a delight to work with and can answer any questions you have about activities. Desiree was happy to cook 3 meals for us...we just provided the groceries. We surfed with Pollo. We fished with Javier. We went to Corcavado with Eduardo. Just realize the location is remote but the Wifi is excellent. The shower is cool but felt amazing after a hot day. A fabulous vacation!

Incredible Adventure
This property is AMAZING, the views, birds, monkeys, home...everything was wonderful. We plan to come back and can easily recommend it to anyone. We were greeted by the Caretaker Isaac, he and his wife Anaise were amazing during our stay. Super helpful, available to assist or answer questions as needed. Isaac speaks fluent English and is a great asset. We also had the chef Rafa come in for several meals, he was amazing, made incredible home cooked Costa Rican meal and we can also highly recommend him. Be sure to rent not only a 4x4 vehicle, but something high profile. The road from Puerto Jimenez is bad, however the road that you turn onto to get to the property, well that is horrible. We rented a 4 x 4 vehicle, however it was not a high profile one and we bottomed out several times on the "road". It takes an hour to go 11 miles, be sure to get something high profile! We also wanted to point out a few things that are listed as amenities that the home does not have - there is no toaster and no washer and dryer. You can have the care takers do your laundry for you if needed. We didn't pack enough clothes for our entire stay as we had planned to wash our clothes while there. This was one of the best properties I have ever stayed at, if you are up for adventure, watching monkeys, birds, swimming, surfing, hiking etc, this is the place for you.

Great property with great cartakers
Even though the property had a neighbor to one side we felt like we were in a secluded location. Our family loved the open air concept of the main common area. The absence of air conditioning really wasn't an issue especially at night. While we would definitely stay here again we would avoid the dry season and the heat. We took advantage of the chef during our stay for most of our meals and glad we did. There is also a delivery service that will bring groceries in during your stay at a very reasonable rate. You need a 4x4 to get to this location. Martina's is the closest restaurant and is also open air and I would estimate it was about 15 minutes by car. Enjoyed a couple of meals here. This restaurant is the place to be on Friday nights. Also, the "turn off" to the property is not far past Martina's. Once you past Martina's there is a little "bus stop" on the left. Just past that stop, take a left and it is somewhat steep. After the left make an immediate right after about 40-50 meters. Tell the locals you are trying to get to Matapolo area and they will help (this was our experience). We didn't have any issues charging phones, laptops, etc with the solar power. Enjoyed the plunge pool every day. Beaches are close and within walking distance. Wildlife at this property was incredible - toucans, red macaws, 3 kinds of monkeys, etc. If you wanted to cook your meals the kitchen looked well stocked with the necessary accoutrements. Caretakers were knowledgeable in the area and helped us with more than just the property.

Fantastic!
We had a group of 5 people that spent 10 days at Casa Marmaris--most went for the surfing. The house is located at Backwash Bay -- which at the time we went was the best break! Tides are extreme--and Backwash breaks at mid to low tide (although we weren't there when it was big)! The house and grounds are fantastic--the views incredible! And the sound of the jungle make things interesting! Ximena was great to deal with for booking her house! Desiree and her husband Isaac were the caretakers of the house and were extremely helpful! We had Desiree cook for us every night---her choice of typical Costa Rican cuisine--and it was great every night! When others have said you should buy what you want to eat in Puerto Jiminez--they were right--it's a 20-30 minute drive back to Puerto Jiminez on some rocky roads! We paid Desirre to go to Puerto Jiminez and buy food and beer and wine for the 10 days we were there!! Best move we made!! Also would have to say a trip to the Lookout Inn towards Carate--is a worthwhile trip!! Plan on eating lunch there if you go--outstanding and reasonably priced--about a 45 minute drive! Keep in mind this is a remote location--no electricity--the main house is open--although all rooms have screens! I took plenty of bug spray and never used it and never was bit--I'm sure it has to do with the time of year. Internet works well! Also the howlers, geckos , raccoons and the macaws are ever entertaining! Want a tropical jungle experience whether you surf or not--great place!

OUr Wonderful Stay in Marmaris
We have just returned from 15 amazing and fabulous days at this property. Thee owner was incredibly informative and helpful when we booked our stay and prior to our stay. The property is amazing. The location overlooking the Pacific and nestled in the jungle is beyond words. From the time we arrived until our departure we were in heaven. Despite being quite open (no windows) the house and rooms are well protected from wildlife. Although several nights we were entertained with the sounds of monkeys. And mornings were wonderful with the sounds of birds and monkeys. There is more than ample closet space in each room and the bathrooms and showers were great. The caretakers are fantastic—Isaac and Anais live on site and are great with information, suggestions for activities and they keep everything very clean and in good operation. Isaac is always there to take care of any problem. You definitely need a four wheel drive vehicle —this is most important since the Matapalo road leading to the house is incredibly rocky and also the main road (highway 245) is gravel or mud. Be careful on 245 in the rain!! We hired the chef that the owner recommended—Rafa—a young Costa Rican—who prepared and served every one of our meals. All fresh fruits and vegetables and amazing meat and fish from the island. HIs juices are wonderful and everything he made was delicious. We strongly recommend hiring him. It is worth the penny and the joy of not having to shop, cook or clean is great. Be sure to discover the little beach at the property next door (ask Isaac) and don’t forget about the cute tiny swimming pool. Our stay at this property was magical in all respects. We would definitely stay here again.

One of a kind vacation
We just returned from a 7 night stay at Casa Marmaris on the Osa Peninsula. My husband and I traveled to this remote location with two other couple friends. We are all adventure seekers but we all have small children and wanted a quiet place to retreat to. We found it! Getting to this home is an adventure in and of itself. The drive to Casa Marmaris is no joke! When they say they recommend 4 wheel drive they mean it. Once you find your way though the travel is worth it because when you go through the house gates it is like you are on your own planet. The nature that others mentioned is true. Ximena was very helpful and easy to work with when booking the home. We had Desiree cook us breakfast and dinner and were so thankful we did. Her food was amazing! Her husband Isaac was helpful with massage bookings and adventures. There was a cleaning service each day so the home was clean even though you are mostly outdoors. We surfed, had massages at the house, took the 4-hour horse and waterfall rappelling tour set up by Isaac (it was awesome!), zip lined, hiked up streams in search of waterfalls, took a boat tour to fish and dolphin seek (which we found ), we took in sunrises and waded in our pool, soaked in nature and played a lot of 6 handed euchre with a beverage in our hands! The lighting was good but the hot water was spotty. A few things to know though about this house. There is no air conditioning. We were all fine with this but 2 of the guys had a hard time at night sleeping because they were hot/sweaty. We loved Martina’s bar/restaurant which is close. We also liked Los Delfines in Puerto Jimmenez. At Casa Marmaris you go to sleep early and rise early. You are on nature’s schedule. The waves put you to sleep and the monkey’s talking wake you. It’s something you won’t soon forget. A fair warning to potential travelers traveling in the near future. There is construction next door to this house. It was going on while we were there. It was the one negative of the home. It is obviously temporary but it did change how we approached the day. The workers arrived at 7am and were there until about 4pm. They take an hour lunch. It was loud. Sawing and hammering. We brought a music speaker and played our music to limit the noise. We also planned our adventures during this time to avoid the noise. I will admit when they left each day we were happy! Ximena did discount the cost of our food to make up for it.

Wonderful!
I wish we could have stayed at this property longer! The property did not disappoint as it is well maintained and its surroundings are beautiful. If we weren't busy exploring the area, I most likely would have spent countless hours watching the Ocean and the garden from the comfort of the open-air living room and using the small, but oh how refreshing, pool! We loved the fact that the bedrooms were in separate buildings on the property. I don't think there was a single thing that we did not like about this home. My review would not be complete without mentioning really nice people that were part of our experience. Everybody was really attentive: - Ximena responded promptly and provided answers to my multiple questions during the booking process - Thank you! - the house manager and his staff were at the property to make sure that we had a great experience but didn't intrude on us. The bedrooms were cleaned every day without us even noticing how and when it happened. We had travelled across CR before we got to the property and we had some laundry upon our arrival; Isaac assisted as soon as I mentioned it. Also, one day we forgot to close our car windows and left for the beach and Isaac noticed this and rolled them up - Many thanks! - Rafael, the chef, cooked for us during our stay and we all loved his dishes. He was very quiet when cooking and so clean that if we didn't see him, I could wonder if the meals just dropped from the sky (hahahah). Thank you! Notes - You need 4 WD to get to the property. There are multiple small bridges to cross. During our stay (the beginning of the rainy season) one bridge was closed and we had to drive over a stream/small river. We did not have any issues with our 4 WD vehicle and noticed that even smaller cars also were able to cross. - The nearest store is in Puerto Jimenez about 30-40 minutes by car so if you want to cook for yourself you need to plan ahead. - The beach adjacent to the property is a surfing beach (it is known for it). If you don't surf and just want to swim in the Ocean you need to walk about 15 minutes. The nearest beach with calmer waters is Pan Dulce Beach (rocks and sand). - Tours are organized from PJ so you need to drive there from Cabo Matapalo. - Kali is a local with knowledge of the area - we met him on our hike and really enjoyed the hike and the talk. We educated ourselves about this area and knew what to expect and this was perfect - a mix of adventure and relaxation. Thanks

A vacation adventure
My wife and adult daughter had the pleasure of staying 6 days at Osa Marmaris. The house and setting are gorgeous. The property is powered by solar and the water supply comes from a mountain stream. It’s safe to drink and we did throughout our stay. Because the property is solar powered there is no air conditioning and with the constant ocean breezes it’s not needed. The Matapalo Beach road where the house is located proved to be a great challenge traveling on. Please do not attempt to traverse this road with anything but a 4wheel drive. We rented a sedan and got hung up a couple of times on the numerous boulders that make up the road. The caretakers, Keylor and his wife, were very friendly and helpful and kept the place spic and span. We took advantage of the optional personal chef Rafael. We thoroughly enjoyed his cooking for our entire stay. We had him prepare 2 meals a day for the 3 of us and every meal was superb. Well worth the cost! The property has neighbors on both sides, but you would never know it as the landscaping gives you total privacy. The pool is small, but very refreshing and has comfortable lounge chair with umbrellas to enjoy a midday margarita. The ocean views are amazing. We would wake up to howler monkeys early and look out of our beds to see crashing waves and surfers at daybreak. After renting a 4wheel drive we took in a number of excursions that were reasonably priced including a dolphin/snorkel tour, an eco hike to a waterfall, and a mangrove kayak tour. The wildlife was amazing we saw parrots, toucans, iguanas, raccoons that we thought were lemurs, monkeys(howler, spider, and white faced), sloths, tree snakes, poison dart frogs, hawks, and our friendly agouti that would hang out by the pool with us. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, I would recommend Martina’s. Friendly staff, great food, and a ping pong table. There is a swimming beach that’s about a 15 minute walk from the house that we didn’t get time to visit. Except for the road issues we thoroughly enjoyed the adventures we had at OSA Marmaris.

Perfect Staycation
This is a perfect set up for multiple couples looking to get away. We loved that the bedrooms were apart from the main house. It was fantastic that we had a common area to go to & socialize, but we had our own space when we went to bed. Everything was very comfortable!! Grounds were beautiful, loved waking up every morning watching the sunrise from our bed. Tons of macaws everywhere! Rafael was an amazing cook!! so worth the money. Beach very close - but waves are very very powerful. Only concern was the pool......it was very cloudy & we were not so sure about getting into it. But absolutely loved everything else & would love to come back
