"We booked here for 2 nights, but only stayed an hour, as we were upset about the poor animals living on the 'farm'. Nothing wrong with the rooms or the swimming pool, but the poor horses & donkeys are kept in awful living conditions. One horse had a huge wound on his leg, which was oozing with puss & covered in flies. The horses are very thin, with prominent ribs. The donkeys have no fresh water, only a green slimy area. "could not have been a better stay. After watching an episode of No Reservations we were inspired to visit Antica Corte Pallavicina where Anthony Bourdain sampled some of the best ham in the world. This place did not disappoint. The estate dates back over 700 years and oozes charm from its painted parlors to its expansive working farm. Rooms are comfortable and restaurants are spectacular.
