Hyatt House Lansing University Area
5/5 Excellent
"This is an excellent property; even the included breakfast was hot, fresh, and tasty and above average. Elevators arrive quickly, and there was no long wait to check in or out. Staff were nice. Guests were courteous and appeared to be mostly students (but respectful, quiet ones). The only drawback I can think of is that the free parking near the hotel is sparse. It’s easiest to park in the below street level lot across a small street, which is $20 for 24 hours or $10 for 8 hours. It’s not that far away, it’s right there, which is positive. But you need a phone to scan the QR code and credit card or debit card to use it. The free parking is shared for another hotel and some residences, so it fills up quickly, and the free parking is 2 hour max parking from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm, so I ended up paying for parking for peace of mind. A big shopping center is right across the street in Frandor with a lot of food options, a grocery store, a supply store, a Staples, etc. The surrounding area is nice and safe as compared to certain parts of the greater city of Lansing (I used to be a local).
