"From the moment we arrived until we checked out at the Marriott Courtyard Kalamazoo/Portage hotel, Front Desk Agent Ryan provided exceptional service! He was friendly, helpful, and accommodating! He offered us the “special of the day” to take to our room, which was a delicious slice of German chocolate cake, and told us there would be popcorn available in the lobby during the night - great touches! Our king room was spacious and clean - housekeeping staff is very thorough! A few things needed attention; the remote control batteries needed replacing, there was a crack in the bathroom sink stone countertop (was sharp to touch), and the sink and tub drains lacked a stopper. The bed was fairly comfortable, but for the upscale pricing the room and hotel overall could use updating soon. The gym, pool and hot tub area were nicely set up with towels and a shower. The hot tub was a little cool (about 95 degrees) and it foamed a little, but the pool was a comfortable temp. Both the pool and hot tub were very clean and sanitary, although the flooring throughout the room needed cleaning and hosing - there was a lot of debris for bare feet. Overall, if I were to return to the area again I would definitely book at this hotel if the price is right!"
