"Clean, quiet, easy check-in. Room was cozy. Good view. We got the room with a hot tub on the balcony so we could toast to the new year in the hot tub, but the heater in the hot tub wasn't working so that wasn't able to happen. Pay attention to you emails you receive, you need to call the property for information to check yourself in. Expedia doesn't share your phone number with the property. Overall still had a good experience and would stay again. "

An inveterate fantasm purportedly haunts this house, or at least one of its windows.

When viewed just right from about one spot on the entire planet, the first dark window you see to the right of the central structure appears to reveal a woman sitting in her chair.

To the more jaded eye, it would seem that a large flaw in the ancient glass happens to line up very nicely with a large, stuffed chair directly behind the window.

No matter. People come from miles around to scare the bejeezus out of themselves by lining up precisely where the apparition can see them and shrieking in delight.

However, few of them will actually stay at the "boutique hotel" contained within. Which is probably why the owner is looking to sell it.

If you like company, but are not overly fond of money, you might drop by and make him an offer.

"The Starrett House was a wonderful surprise. I felt like I was living in a museum instead of simple bed and breakfast. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and contained everything I needed. My breakfast was definitely on the gourmet side and I enjoyed sitting in the formal dining room feeling like I was a guest of the family who built the home. If you can’t spend the night, tours of the home are available and high tea events are offered. I was originally looking for a budget motel for my Port Townsend trip but then came across the Starrett House. The price was a bit more than a motel but the value of the fabulous breakfast and the ambiance of the property justified the splurge. The location is just up the hill from the historic shopping district and I was able to walk to the ferry, shops, and several eclectic dining options. If you’re coming to Port Townsend, skip the motels and treat yourself to an experience where you’ll be treated like a guest instead of a customer. "

Excellent Location in Downtown Port Townsend

"We enjoyed our stay very much as it was extremely convenient to walk to all of the shops downtown. Was fun to be able to look out the windows and see the activity on the street below. Bedrooms are a nice size with comfortable beds and apartment was very clean and well organized. Our hosts were communicative and provided easy to follow check in instructions with some flexibility on the check in/out times. The kitchen is well stocked and has fun colors of Fiestaware for meals. Note that if it's raining, the wood deck can be very slippery and though the description states hot tub, there was not a hot tub there. They do have a bathtub in a spacious bathroom. All in all would recommend for a lovely getaway! You are right in the heart of downtown and uptown is a quick walk up the fountain stairs, which the apartment overlooks."
