"Everything you would need around you, great restaurants just around the corner, great service, view from room is brilliant, the beach is great, the size of the room is amazing and the facilities are all good, the WiFi is a bit slow but would definitely come stay again"

"Villa Alto is a lovely old house set high up in the hills above Ponta do Sol. With beautiful views. You will definitely need a hire car. The Staff are wonderful and work very hard to make you feel welcome. The breakfast is amazing, all freshly made from scratch. Sadly there was no dinner service available during our stay. Our room (no 9)was small and needed some TLC. The weather during our stay was stormy and the room was cold and damp. The curtains were stained and hanging from the rails....

"A great place - set in the cliff tops with amazing views. Great spa facilities, large comfortable beds, superb food, and friendly and efficient staff. The free shuttle buses/taxis to and from the airport, local walking areas and Funchal, meant we didn't have to hire a car, and there were also free e-bikes which were great. Ponta do Sol is quiet, but there are a few bars/restaurants which served great food. "

"Just got back from there and it exceeded expectations in every way. The restaurant was exceptional and you cannot beat having it right there! The room was fabulous. Staff was so friendly. "The house is beautiful. The pool area is an amazing place to take in the views, sunsets and relax. The directions and accompanying literature provided by the host are very informative and answered all of our questions about using the house amenities. Highly recommend taking advantage of the bakery delivery truck that drives past every morning at ~9:15. There is a nespresso machine and drip/filter coffee maker for caffeine needs. If we’re ever back in Madeira, we will hope to stay here again....

"From beginning to the end of our month long stay we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The location is excellent surrounded by banana plantations which are situated on the mountain side, the views are beautiful, don’t forget your walking boots there are some excellent walks with breath taking views, we particularly enjoyed walking the Levadas, we would recommend you get the “walk me” app, it will cost £4.99 for the full maps, but well worth it!
