"The rooms were odd, felt like staying in a concrete tomb. The pool was yellow-ish green, it was not swimmable. The hotel is very remote, no food, taverns, groceries within walking distance. beds were old and very uncomfortable, and overall we felt very unsafe in this location and left after one miserable night. The location is nice, meters from the sea and a lot of restaurants on the promenade, the beach however is about 10 minute walk away. Nice, quiet place, good base for exploring the western part of Crete. Very friendly staff, well prepared with information and hand-enhanced printed maps for the region."

"If you are a hiker interested in a great place to walk for several days and where you come back to a great dinner in a quiet place, then this is your spot! If you're just looking for a relaxing place to stay, then the drive there may not be worth the effort. The drive there involves some pretty twisty roads with the last 5 km or so on a dirt/gravel road. "Thalassa apartments was awesome! It was super quiet and we enjoyed looking at the view. If you’re looking for something more lively, maybe travel closer to Rethymno. This town was very quiet and not too many places to go. However we still enjoyed it thoroughly! "
