Nice resort, well maintained but they have a serious issue with the restaurants at night. Either you have to line up at 4:30 to join the waiting list at one of the restaurants, or wait 2hours to get a table. Either of which I dont want to do on a vacation. And the members jump ahead of you on the queue. Ended up going to Playa del Carmen for dinner on the last night as couldnt face the stress of another 2hour wait with 3 kids

Like the options in room types and the staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Did not like that it was far from the beach and usually used the shuttle also there were too many day beds blocking the view of the beach or pool. Also, seemed to be a lot on construction noise during the day

Let me start by saying the staff was very friendly, attentive and fun. However a few things about the room. My room was in building 7. It was outdated, the safe didnā€™t work, the water wouldnā€™t get hot. I learned on my last day there is a trick to it. The pools were great, the entertainment was fun- especially the fiesta. Food options were great. I actually really liked the food at this resort. My flight with frontier was canceled so I had to pay for another night. This is where the staff wasnā€™t so accommodating. They wanted to up charge. We needed min 4rooms so it would be almost 1600 for 1 night. I ended up getting a room online for $250 and had them match that for the rest of my family but it took a lot of time to do that. Also the water in my sink was coming out brown. I loved the monkeys, the pools and the beach but I wouldnā€™t recommend this resort.

The staff was great. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming all around the property (Im not joking). We were upgraded to the penthouse for our anniversary which was a nice incentive since we had our 5 month old. My only critique is the water is not hot enough in the rooms, the restaurant hours does not match what was on the site once you use the QR code, and the hype about the food... It was good but the exaggeration from other reviewers with past stays had my hopes too high lol. But overall we had a really good trip! We'd stay again.

I rented two rooms and both rooms has very strong mold smell. I had seven months baby and 13 Years old daughter. My daughter has food allergy and they only had one lunch open place after she eats for lunch. We had to go to the emergency because of her flex reaction. Their food was contaminated and you donā€™t have any other options. Only one restaurant open at lunch and food was very limited. That night, my daughter lizards in the room and she refused to get it in the room and we had to end up staying outside the entire night. When we ask cancellation, no one able to contact us or to reach us to help. He was terrible and terrified we had when we stay in this hotel. I had to leave the next day and find another hotel. They have very poor customer service and you cannot reach them when you need them Emergency. Some of the rooms the car cannot get in and you have to walk to the lobby. I do not recommend in this hotel to anyone

The first two days was a nice experience, everyone was so welcoming, the attention and the smiles were unique. Once that third day hit it was like you no longer exist it felt kind of weird specially for us since it was our first family vacation and we choose The Fives, because it came highly recommended. I mean you can have it all right! We were given coupons by our concierge Antonio that we could use with any of the excursions we choose and this information was confirmed by Luis the person that took our information for the excursion we chose.We were given a price and were told that we could use the coupons and also an additional discount for booking through Expedia. Upon checking out none of the coupons qualified for the additional discount promised for booking through Expedia. I was told that the particular excursion we chose the coupon did not apply. This was very disappointing and more because we didnā€™t even get a sorry or an apology for the misunderstanding. This hotel needs more training on how to approach situations like this, it was really sad that we had to leave with such disappointment from a supposed Five start hotel.

The Fives sincerely exceeded my expectations and those of my family. Traveling with a family of 6 (4 teenage boys) makes for some challenging room options. The suite we got at The Fives was perfect. One entry way for everyone, but separate rooms for my wife & I and the boys. Just the right amount of privacy without needing to get fully separated rooms. The whole suite was clean and spacious, with multiple balconies and a killer view of one of the pools. The staff was probably the star of the show. Everyone, and I mean, every single person's path we crossed was polite, attentive and genuinely seemed to care about our well-being. I can only surmise this is a positive work environment. It certainly reflected in how they treated the guests from my experience. Honestly, I felt the need to sing The Fives' praises because we had an outstanding experience. I typically walk away from a trip reflecting on what to do different for next time. I wouldn't change a thing, and this hotel is the reason!
