Island paradise right off the west coast of Florida! Beautiful barrier lsland!!!

Little Gasparilla Island is a hidden paradise located between Ft. Myers and Sarasota. Our fully furnished, excellent located home is on an island that is accessible by private boat or water taxi. There are no formal commercial establishments on the island such as restaurants or grocery stores. There are no paved roads on the lsland, only miles of sandy trails flanked by tropical foliage. Take long leisurely walks or travel by golf cart down these paths to explore the beauty of the island. The peaceful, uncrowded beach provides plenty of room for you to bathe in the sun all day, enjoy outstanding shelling, bird watching, swimming, snorkeling, playing with your children, and beautiful water views but the best of all, the brilliant sunsets that ends a perfect day. There is great fishing to be had by all that drop a line. Snook, Trout, Redfish, Snapper and more, in the world famous Boca Grande Pass you can try your hand at Tarpon fishing. GLI is the ideal place to get way from the mainland madness. and unwind in a secluded tropical paradise. If none of that can get you off the couch, there is always internet.👍😉

Great place!
We really enjoyed our three week stay and the home was in great condition with pretty much everything we needed. The coordination and communications with the Owner were timely and the host was very responsive when we had questions or needs. The host actually checked in with us one day when the power had gone out (briefly) to make sure we were in good shape, thank you again Bonnie! We loved the large screened porch and spent a lot of time out there eating, playing games, and just hanging out. We wound up renting a golf cart and also used the grocery delivery service, our first time using that service and it was soooo worth it! The host asked for suggestions for improvements, and even though the host did provide this info via VRBO, one thing that we felt would be helpful for renters would be a binder with info on the home, how things work (wifi password, etc.), local services (grocery, water taxi, etc.), and checkout info. All in all this was a great rental and we would definitely stay here again!

This was our first time to LGI. The location of this property was great and the sunsets were amazing. The house had all the amenities you would need for your stay so pack light. We did not use half the clothes we brought, and we did not use any of the beach toys, or towels, we brought. We saw dolphins everyday along with sea turtles on the beach at sunset. There were star fish and sand dollars everywhere at the sandbar. We Kayaked everyday as well. The mosquitos were the worst I had ever seen. Bring lots of bug spray no matter how much we applied we were covered in bug bites. The island needs to be fogged more often. Also bring ant traps or bug traps. Not sure what bugs they were but they were everywhere. They over the counters and baseboards even had them in our suitcase so we had to wash everything weather we wore it or not. From my understanding this is an island issue with many of the houses. This will not keep us from coming back we will just better prepare next time.

Home away from home
We stayed at the property for the last week of February. After arriving by water taxi at our dock it was only a short walk to the house. Everything was nice and clean and ready for us to settle right in for week of relaxation. The only issue we had was the grill was out of propane. After contacting the owner she had one dropped off the next day. Problem solved. We had the most perfect weather for the whole week we were there. Coming from northern Michigan that is exactly what we needed.. Although we didn’t use them, there were kayaks to use and many other beach amenities to play with. I did make use of the surf rod holders, I had brought my own fishing poles. I was able to even land some fish to cook up on the grill. The beach was only a couple hundred foot walk to the beach for some spectacular sunsets. We also scheduled a couple fishing charters for the week and we’re able to be picked up right from our dock. Both trips were very successful. More fish for the grill. We both highly recommend this place if your looking for the most relaxing vacation possible.

An amazing escape!
From my perspective the place was awesome. Plenty of room for myself, 2 teenage girls, and my older mother and father (70s). A beach cottage on stilts, 2 bedrooms on the first floor and the master en-suite on the second floor with a upper deck that has a view of the sunset over the ocean. Beds and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen was great, every cooking device needed (keriag & filtered coffee machine, rice cooker, air fryer, toaster oven, nice gas grill), some salts and spices too. RokuTV was great. Kayaks and beach chairs were extremely useful. We walked from the dock to the house easily and daily walks to the ocean beach about the same distance. The only issues we had in the house was the presence of small ants in the kitchen (I brought some ant traps that helped) and the internet was sometimes flaky while watching movies in the evening but we just played board games instead. It was our first time to the island, it was fun but I recommend either renting a boat from the mainland to come and go as you please or make the water taxi reservation WAY in advance. Keep expectations low, there is not much to do besides relax and hang on the beach. Bring enough food and drinks for your stay to minimize the need to leave the island.

Island vacation
Great location if you like seclusion. Loved hanging out at the beach. Went memorial day week and were few people there however still not packed like I thought it may be. Thinned out a bit as week went on but still not anything like a busy public beach. Saw all kinds of wildlife on island, loggerhead sea turtles nesting, gopher tortoise crossing road as well as snakes, scorpion, armadillos. Dolphins swimming 100 yards from beach which you can still touch in most locations that far out due to large sandbar throughout most of beach area. Also was within 5-10 feet of manatee that swam by me as I was snorkeling. Home was great, plenty of room for family with literally everything you would need from all beach supplies, chairs, umbrella, sand toys, kayaks, did have fishing poles but none worked. I had brought my own anyway. Home was clean and tastefully decorated with beach items. I guess water taxi was having very busy day due to it being memorial day so we waited some time beyond our scheduled time to get to island, still not deal breaker for me, was very nice. All I can say is that if you plan to book this great place you will want to make sure you plan your meals and snacks for each day. If you do forget something you can always get it delivered but for a price. I definitely plan to return to island in future., hopefully same place. Thanks for great time Bonnie.

Trips to this place are truly special. It is the perfect place to completely relax and spend quality time with your family. There are no distractions just nature and pristine beach. Bonnie was extremely helpful and responsive during prep for the trip. You will need to plan some due to the remote location but the truth is, you will need very little with you. Seriously! Don't over pack! The house has all that you need for the beach. Chairs, kayaks, some sand toys and a really nice umbrella. Just grab a towel and a swimsuit and go! Our young kids love it because they can run free with no worries of traffic. We will be back to this house and this island for family vacations as often as possible. Thank you, Bonnie for sharing this magical place 😊

Great location for a relaxing island getaway!
Bonnie’s house was the perfect home base for our island getaway. It’s just a short walk from the bay where the ferry drops you off and kayak launch. Only a few steps in the other direction and you’ll find the most beautiful beach. The screened porch was perfect for playing cards and the hammocks under the house provided a nice spot for afternoon naps swinging in the breeze. Inside you’ll find everything you need for your stay. We brought a Brita water pitcher and used water from the tap. The golf carts and water taxis book up, so reserve early. If you are looking for a clean, low-frills, comfortable home in a perfect location for your island adventure, look no further than Bonnie’s!

Excellent family getaway
LGI was a fantastic experience, especially for small children. Bonnie's home is in an excellent location, just a short walk to the beach (195 steps for me - from the front of the house to the end of the trail at the beach). The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, and sundry items. Beds were all comfortable and A/C worked great. We loved the outdoor shower for our return trips from the beach. I had to use my phone as a hotspot for the kids' tablets during their small amount of internet use, so keep that in mind if it's important to you. There's an occupied bald eagle nest in a tree across from the house, an occupied tortoise burrow on the property, from the beach we saw dolphins (or perhaps porpoises) swim by, and got to see a shark patrolling the water as well---which leads to the best part of the beach: There's a sandbar that runs parallel to the beach about 40 feet from the shore. This creates an area of water between the shore and sandbar that's excellent for children to play in because the water is calmer, warmer, and not too deep (maybe 3-3.5 feet at it's deepest), and the large sea creatures can't cross the sandbar because at its deepest the water was ankle deep when standing on the sandbar. The tide may affect this of course, but it held true for the entirety of our 5 days there. EVERYONE we met on the island was very friendly, but an extra special thanks to Alice and Rod for being such welcoming, helpful, and nice neighbors during our stay. We'll definitely miss them. In short, 10/10, will definitely repeat!

Time in paradise
Our family overall had an amazing time . The house suited all our needs just fine . We did have to do a bit of light cleaning when we arrived which we addressed with the owner . The kitchen was not clean. She apologized and said she would talk to the cleaning crew. The distance between the beach and bay was perfect ! The kayaks were wonderful and we enjoyed our time on the bay. The water at beach was clear and refreshing.

Best deal on the Island without a doubt!!
What a treat our family had staying at this lovely 3/2. It was the most accommodating stay we've had in the last ten years on the Island. The house was perfect and had everything needed for a great stay. New grill, kayaks, wifi, brand new central AC, 3 queen size beds, and much more. We have definitely found our new "goto" spot at LGI. Better stop writing now so it doesn't fill up when we want to rent it.

Best Secret Ever!
If you’re beach bums then this is the house and island...it is wonderful for a couple that wants to get away and relax or it’s great for a family with kids. It does take some prep because no restaurants or places to go but once you make it to the house and the beach you really don’t care to go anywhere! Would recommend a golf cart just to make it a little easier to make it to the dock for pickup from water taxi. Also would recommend just to bring a back pack with a couple swimsuits, T-shirt’s and shorts...you’re all set! Enjoy!

The home was clean and well appointed, perfect for our family vacation.
We loved LGI. It was restful and beautiful. You have to plan carefully for your meals and food, as they’re are no shops to buy provisions on island. We were able to do that successfully by having a shopper assemble our weeks groceries from the Publix in Placida. We planned simple and delicious meals and took turns cooking. The Publix held our groceries for pick up with our car service from the airport. We grabbed a few extras then too. The car service guys were great! Everyone we met in FL was pleasant and helpful, both on LGI and off. While at Bonnie’s I asked another family who were renting nearby very respectfully to turn down their country music which we could hear in the house with the windows closed. They very kindly did. We preferred to have the windows open to listen to the waves and the wind rustling the palm fronds. That’s the beauty of LGI. Wind, warm waters, waves, walks, shells, super nice people, no crowds. Bonnie’s place is wonderful with views of the gulf, a three minute walk to to the beach and a five minute walk from the dock on the bay side. There’s a cart to bring your stuff up from the dock. Pirate’s Water Taxi’s Emmet is amazingly kind and helpful. You have to take your own trash off island, but we sort and manage and haul our own trash in VT, so it was not hard, and Pirate’s helped. It’s $2.50 per bag to dump at Eldred’s Marina. You have to filter the drinking water through two Britta pitchers but that’s easy enough too. We had a wonderful time and Bonnie was a responsive host. She answered all our questions promptly and we had many. She has three kayaks at the house and we had kayak adventures on both the gulf and the bay. Dolphin sightings, all sorts of shore birds, the osprey nest in the big pine outside our kitchen window that provided a show of parents taking turns sitting and feeding, the gopher tortoise who made way across the yard on our first day, fish jumping in the bay- all magical. There’s a little gift shop art gallery that’s very cool. We’ll be back to LGI to stay at Bonnie’s again. Her house is nicely set up, simple and functional, with a charming light filled bedroom at the top of a circular stair. The two downstairs bedrooms were comfortable and worked well for our family. Two clean functional bathrooms is a plus as is the outdoor shower. The lanai where we ate all our meals was lovely. Thank You for the opportunity to tell you how much we enjoyed our time in LGI, and the grace that was Bonnie’s home.
