"A very unusual and quirky place to stay, it has been converted to a comfortable holiday home on a number of levels ( so you need to have full mobility). Our host was very warm and welcoming and we had some very interesting conversations. the beds were very comfortable , the kitchen was well equipped too. "This apartment exceeded our expectations. Not only was it exactly as described and as the pictures showed, it was better in real life. Very spacious lounge area with comfy seating. "The house was so deceiving from its description that we chose to leave it to find a hotel and lose our deposit. It was dirty, the floors, table and all kitchen surfaces were sticky. On the table an old half eaten dried up cake welcomed us!! The shower was not high enough to stand up in and its tiles had not been cleaned in years. There was no standing room in the tiny bathroom/toilet. The 2 tiny bedrooms had only space for the bed/beds with no space to put down a suitcase, or anywhere else in...

"Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen Haus, welches äußerst geschmackvoll eingerichtet war und in dem es an nichts fehlte. Es gab zwei Terrassen. Eine, von der aus man durch die hübschen Oleanderbüsche und Palmen zum Meer schauen konnte und eine andere, die nachmittags Schatten bot und einen sehr schönen Blick in die traumhafte Parkanlage mit unterschiedlichsten Blumen und Pflanzen bot. Vom Haus aus ließ sich der gesamte Osten von Kreta zum Wandern sehr gut erreichen....

"When we first arrived I was worried that the villa was too remote but we were close to 2 beautiful beaches and the town was only a 10 minute drive. The pool area was lovely with great views and it was good to have all en suite rooms."

The yard, the real living-room, is quite small, but very agreeable and has a nice atmosphere. Hostess Eleni is absolutely friendly and gave us a lot of advices for our trips and restaurants. In Kavoussi there are not to many tourists, so you feel as living in an authentic Kretian village. We are glad having found this accomodation and region for our holidays. . "

"Elia is a beautiful old property with all mod cons in a stunning location. We stayed six nights and couldn’t have been happier with our choice to stay here. The house is beautifully styled and the view from the upstairs deck is stunning. Eirini was so generous with providing general food provisions including butter, milk, bread, eggs, cheese, ham, beer, fresh fruit, etc. plus all the other basics even washing powder for washing machine. The location is perfect, there is a lovely taverna only 50m...

"A truly wonderful little house, very well appointed with bedding and towels. It's even somewhat of a tourist attraction due to the magnificent Bougainvillea. Just right for two people. Turn left out of the front door and you have 6 tavernas, 4 bars, a super bay to swim in and a well stocked little supermarket. The whole atmosphere is very tranquil and relaxed. Finally Androniki, the owner is fabulous and very attetive."

"Property was well located for beach and within walking distance of local taverna. This property is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems or young children as there is a very steep open staircase leading down from the bedroom to the bathroom."

"This is an amazing villa which is basically brand new. Well equipped kitchen with sharp knives. It was great to have a freezer for the prawns from the butchers. The roof terrace was fabulous, so fabulous that people walking by took lots of photos. The property management couldn't have been more helpful throughout our stay. I would recommend staying here 100% it's worth every penny."

"Very disappointing stay. This photos show a pleasant hotel with sea views. What we had was a view of the sea with a very ugly old half built building obscuring the view. The receptionist was surly, abrupt and generally unpleasant. No welcoming smile, I felt like we were a burden. The room was full of mosquitos. The bed was a bit like sleeping on a blanket covered rock and only 2 pillows. Breakfast the first morning... my husband is a diabetic and is not able to eat any of the cakes and...

"Our holiday in the Villa met all our high expectations. The Villa has superb accommodation and outside areas and facilities. The Management Company looked after a couple of issues which arose, including loss of hot water, very quickly. Makry Gialos is a fantastic and authentic resort, away from the tourist hot spots. So nice, I fear its secret will be out soon and it will grow and lose some of its charm. I recommend you get to it now! Martyn, Shirley & family. "

"This is now my second stay at Koutsounari Traditional Cottages, and based on the wonderful time I had again I am confident it will not be my last! Koutsounari truly is a small slice of paradise on the already beautuful island of Crete, and Ioanna the property manager has created a unique and authentic Greek experience with the cottages. From the architecture to the interior decor, every detail is well thought out to create a traditional feel while still providing all the modern amenities we are accostomed to (wifi, climate control, etc.). The area itself is peaceful and quiet, and the beach, grocery store and dining options are all within walking distance. If your travels take you to this part of Crete, do yourself a favor and look into staying here, I know you won't be disappointed..."

"What a beautiful retreat! This was such an amazing place with wonderful staff. Everything was gorgeous, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was incredible. Watching the sunset with a glass of wine at dinner was my favorite part of my Greece trip so far. I’m in love with the place and can’t wait to come back. I will recommend it to my family and friends "

Lovely hotel in fantastic position.

"Super place to stay near the beach with fantastic views of the bay. Rooms very practical and clean, bed very comfortable. Poool and bar pretty great place to relax after day windsurfing. Wish we had stayed longer, very good value, will be back next year."
