"They didn’t have good WiFi. It was in fact unuseable. Staff just made excuses but all guests we spoke to couldn’t use/connect to WiFi. I chose this hotel because it said WiFi - I had work to do as our stay was for 6 nights. "

"Front desk manager was so kind and friendly and helpful. The pool was small- but looked so amazing; with rocks around the side; but far too cold and rainy to go in. One minute walk to the beach and shops right around the corner: perfect location, but on a quiet street. "

"This was a most enjoyable stay. The staff are friendly, tge service is great, and the breakfast options are also great, and children eat for free at breakfast time. I highly recommend taking your family here for a weekend stay. Our family are definitely coming back!! Thank you Copthorbe Paihia"

"The manager was welcoming and caring. Anything that was not in our room that we needed, he responded quickly with the items. The balcony had a lovely outlook and the room was well ventilated having two entrances. It was quiet even though on a busy road. Building set well back from road. Would stay there again. "

"What a view! we had stayed here a few years back on a bike trip so really wanted to stay again and relax. Great food, the property is getting a bit of a face life and you can see the effort going in to get it back to a very high level"

"The room was nice enough, would be great for families for the space and sleeping arangements and for the price. Easy parking outside of the room. The bed was pretty uncomfortable though as it was very firm, woke up after one night with joint pain all over. The room was clean but the office was small and cluttered. "

"For the price this place is basic. You are paying 5 star prices and getting 3 star standard. Basic. Lamps in bedroom didn’t work. It was just cheap, cold no view not comfortable in the apartment. I stay all over nz for work and I have never paid over $330 for a night in such a basic hotel. I’ll never stay here again "

"Plenty to see and do in surrounding area…short easy drive to Paihia central, ferry , Treaty. Grounds and Waitangi golf course.Comfortable stay, very hot while we were there. Quiet street.Didn’t realise it would be someone’s home while they were away."

"Stayed one night on a last minute booking option. As soon as we arrive at the property, the manager welcomed us. Gave us the key to our room. Parking outside of the room. The room was spacious and feels clean and very comfortable. It has everything we need for pur short stay. I would stay here again. 💯 "

Great stay in a great location

"Apartment was spotless and very well appointed. There was everything we needed four our four night stay. Debbie, the property manager, was great. She’s very friendly and was extremely helpful. She provided us with a lot of local information to help us enjoy our stay. We enjoyed the coastal trail up to Paihai and back, very scenic."

Still the best in Whangarei

"Outstanding stay. I used to stay here when it first opened decades ago all the time but this is my first trip back in a long time and its still outstanding. Well appointed, homely style furniture and while its not modern it has a great quality and vibe about it. Highly reccomend."

Bay of Islands base

"A rustic cabin style property with large rooms and good sized ensuite. Several rooms available. Easy to find and well located. On a busy road ( no road noise) leading to the car ferry but with car spaces available. Room opened onto small garden with seating giving views of the bay. Room well equipped and clean. Owners lived above the property and we could hear them moving about. Hosts were friendly and helpful about the area."
