"This is the second time we stay at this beautiful place. Great location, comfortable rooms, good food, and most importantly amazing staff that always go the extra mile to make your stay a special one. Special thanks go to Mr. José Mendez who always makes sure that all guests are having a wonderful time. Furthermore, the swimming pool is very nice and heated, and we really enjoyed the mini-golf and the little steam next to it. "

"Great place. Wonderfully decorated with robin’s egg blue trim, sturdy and functional furnishings. Just beautiful, the way the light streams in from the shuttered windows. Tranquil (albeit with country sounds like roosters). Peaceful. It is easy to walk into town, either along a hiking trail or along the highway, which has a sidewalk after a while. "Lovely spacious villa with plenty of room for 10-12 people, and lots of dining and sitting space inside, and outdoor space. It was very warm during our stay, and as the villa doesn't have air conditioning it did get warm inside. Some more fans would be useful, as opening windows does increase outside noise. "A little tropical paradise. Perfect setting next to the water and total seclusion at bottom of valley. There was no-one staying in the second property by the water but don't think it would have changed our opinion. Accommodation was more than adequate and the outdoor kitchen area had everything you'd need. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and the son was our readily available interpreter. "We spent a wonderful 6 days at Casa Grande Carlota. Antonio was very helpful with any enquiries we had before our trip and we were greeted warmly on our arrival. The house is exactly as described - or even better. We were amazed at how well equipped it was. The pool is great and there are so many different areas to sit and relax both inside and outside. The covered barbecue area/outdoor kitchen is brilliant and we ate out there every night. There is a very good supermarket in Terras de Bouro....

"This is an excellent property in a beautiful setting. As well as the pool, the house is surrounded by a wonderful garden with orchard, vines, and shaded spots. The very welcoming owner lives next door and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and interesting - he gave us his own wine, vegetables from the garden and arranged for the local baker to deliver every day. The house was spotless and very well provided with bedrooms and bathrooms. Fast wifi in the house. Cooking facilities...

"Great property exactly as described, and the setting and views were just the best! The local town 20 mins drive on the river is Amarante and it stole our hearts. The drive straight down the mountain to a slightly closer town Celorico de Basto is not for the faint hearted, and was not repeated. The TV was in French which was a bonus as we don't speak Portugese. The host was very accommodating of our very late arrival at 11pm due to flight issues and responded to all messages immediately.A great...

"If you are planning a trip to explore the 'Rota du Vinho Verde' make this your home for the stay. The family is so welcoming and you won't find a more magical location than the haven they have created. They produce 3 blends of white wine that have more body than many we have tasted - and more complexity. Truly a social find. "This guy needs to communicate with guests better. I requested how to get in the day before, then twice the morning of my arrival. I didn't hear from him until 2:30 pm and check in was at 3. I was in Braga at that point and had to go wait in a cafe until I got his email. (It was raining) When I showed up at the place, a couple was outside trying to get in. Then later, after I returned around 8 pm, another couple was outside who couldn't get in. I let them in."

"This was our second stay at the Hotel da Oliveira. All being well, we shall be returning again. It is a most elegant space in the historical quarter, with themed guest rooms (ours was named after the inscription of the city on the UNESCO World Heritage List). LOCATION: Situated at the very heart of the Centro Historico, the hotel is a short taxi ride from the train station and the bus station (even walkable with light luggage). HISTORY: The elegant breakfast verandah of the hotel opens out onto the historical Largo da Oliveira, while the main entrance to the hotel opens onto the Rua de Santa Maria, said to be the first road built in Portugal (Guimarães being where Portugal's history begins). At its upper end, the Rua de Santa Maria culminates in the Paço dos Duques de Bragança and the Castelo de Guimarães, while at its lower end it becomes a part of the Largo da Oliveira, with the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira. While the latter is still a living church, a part of it has been converted into the Museu de Alberto Sampaio (at the height of the summer holidays, the museum stays open late into the night). Guests of the hotel are within walking distance of all key sights, and a walk away from the Teleférico de Guimarães, the cable car that transports one to Monte da Penha. "
