Sanctuary at Hay Lake, MN

Sanctuary at Hay Lake is situated on just over a half acre of nature's bliss. The house has been meticulously re-designed and remodeled with the vacationing family or larger group in mind. It features 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and very comfortably accommodates 14 people. All of the beds feature memory foam mattresses with an additional memory foam topper so each guest can choose between a softer, or firmer mattress experience. On the upper level three of the bedrooms offer guests the flexibility to choose bed configurations of either two twin extra long (XL), or combined for a single king size bed. In the fourth upper level bedroom we offer two sets of bunk beds to sleep four people. For the comfort of our taller guests all of the twin beds are XL - even the two sets of bunk beds. On the main level we offer two bedrooms, each with queen size beds. For added flexibility and additional gathering space, one of the bedrooms features a memory foam queen size sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa was specially selected for its sleeping comfort, and features a 6" memory foam mattress and an additional 2" memory foam topper for a combined total of 8" of memory foam sleeping bliss. All four bathrooms include complete towel sets, and body wash/shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower. The master bathroom also features a whirlpool bathtub with lake view.
House amenities include a fully stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs, and dining for 14 people. All bedrooms, except the bunk room, offer Smart TV's with cable TV. The house is fully air conditioned, and Wi-Fi internet is available throughout the house. The deck features a screen tent with seating and dining table, and is located directly adjacent to the fire pit. Also included with your stay is use of the 24 foot pontoon boat, and seating for 14 people Including captain. And of course, there are plenty of other water toys including tubes, floating dock, floating dock, a single person kayak, double person kayak, and a lake badminton court!
Hay Lake offers 363 acres of fully recreational waters with truly amazing water clarity - you can see the lake bottom from the house! The lake is stocked by both the DNR and the Hand-Hay Lake Association, and features black crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, walleye, and many other fish species. Approximately half of the lake shore is completely natural and undeveloped - this is truly Sanctuary at Hay Lake! The lake has no known invasive species -- we thank you for doing your part to keep it that way.

Wonderful Property
The reason we chose this house/property was predominantly because of the size (how many people it could accommodate for sleeping). It did not disappoint! There were 7 adults and 7 children (ages 5 thru 14). We all comfortably slept, with room to spare. There was even a glamping tent set up in the yard, inside a screen porch...that was extra that didn't even use for sleeping. We hosted a 50th wedding anniversary one day at this house; an extra 25-ish people showed up. Between the kitchen, living room and dining room...as well as the outside deck and gazebo with mosquito screen - there was plenty of room for all of us to mingle and visit. The kitchen is equipped with pretty much every appliance, pot/pan, utensil that you might need to host a party or just for preparing family meals. A HUGE bonus with this house is the included water toys (canoe, kayaks, floaties and pontoon). We spent most of our days on the pontoon either fishing or towing the kids around the lake on the tube. The kids absolutely loved it! For the fishermen out there; we caught sun fish, blue gill and small northerns right off the dock. In addition we were able to catch a fairly nice sized bass out in the middle of the lake. With just a small hook and a worm, we kept the kids entertained for hours dropping the line in and reeling in sun fish/blue gills. The owner (Jay) is very communicative...he is quick to respond to any and all questions/comments/inquiries that we had. Tremendous property!!!

Great cabin for a group
We went as a group of 5 adult couples and this worked out perfect! Communication and check in was very clear and easy. The screened in porch and bonfire pits were really nice. The cabin had a beautiful view, and we really appreciated the pontoon being included! It’s a nice lake. A little weedy by the dock, so some of us who are babies wore our water shoes, but it really wasn’t too bad. Plenty of bedrooms/beds and bathrooms. Just a heads up, this isn’t really close to many restaurants or shops, but we had planned to spend all of our time at the cabin anyway and did enjoy some bloody Mary’s and appetizers at the Harriet Club. Overall great stay!

Family Fun
This was a family gathering of three generations. The accommodations were plentiful, and a couple thoroughly enjoyed glamping. The grandchildren enjoyed the arcade, car racing, and laser tag. We all loved the pontoon for fishing and tubing. There was plenty to do or just relax in the gazebo. It was a quiet lake and out in the woods.

Sanctuary Stay
We have stayed at Jay’s properties three times and he continues to impress. His communication is flawless and his commitment to the guest experience is second to none. We really enjoyed Sanctuary at Hay Lake and all the amenities. The home is spacious and set up for families. The pontoon and water activities kept everyone happy, but should you need inside activities The Sanctuary has lots of space, games, movies and a gorgeous view! We look forward to our Sanctuary stays in the future!

Best Cabin We've Ever Had!
My family and I stayed from Sunday to Monday (8 days), and had a wonderful time! It includes a pontoon boat that is right there - no need to rent one! There are a bunch of kayaks and floatees to use as well. There was room for my daughter's and son-in-law's fishing boat to dock there too! We caught crappies, northerns, sunnies, and good-sized bass. We rented two Jet Skis and had a blast on Friday - all day long! The bedrooms are very comfortable and have TVs. There's a Ms. Pacman arcade game in the living room - I went nuts on that thing! That's my high score on Ms. Pacman 1 (59,620). The kitchen has EVERYTHING! I cannot say enough about this fantastic vacation home! Hope to come back again soon!

Great Stay At Hay Lake
Our family of 11 stayed at this property for a long weekend recently and the home met all of our needs. Facilities were all clean, the kitchen was very well-equipped; the bathrooms complete with plenty of towels, bath essentials, etc.; the family games were enjoyed by 'kids' of all ages (especially the Pac-Man) and even the beach had all of the floaties, kayaks and life preservers (in the pontoon) needed. The floating dock was an unexpected plus for swimming and to have full access to the pontoon was great! Hay Lake is extremely clean, peaceful and our children enjoyed catching fish both off the dock and from the boat. We did have some adults enjoy a nap (or two!) to try out the glamping option, but no takers overnight.

Wonderful Cabin Getaway
I highly recommend this getaway! The location is beautiful and host was super nice and accommodating. It's even better than the photos. We have a large family and the cabin was super spacious and fully equipped with kitchen supplies, extra towels, pillows, and blankets. There is a washer and dryer in unit along with detergent. Cleaning and bathroom supplies were plentiful. The host even went as far as setting up a "glamping" tent outside that had running AC. There is a large pontoon included for boat rides and plenty of kayaks and gear for fun on the lake. Nighttime was so blissful underneath the stars and in the gazebo. This is now the top of our list to visit during the summer. If you have more people than is suggested, write to the host and he does his best to work with you. This place deserves 10 stars! We loved it!

Very nice property with number of water toys and the use of a pontoon boat included which set this place apart from many others. Host/owner was very responsive both prior to and during our stay. Small maintenance issues were attended to within hours of contacting him; and maintenance man was great as well. Owner brought in a small extra frig for our use without us even asking for it. Very quiet and secluded area and lake.

We had multiple families stay for a birthday party. Everyone enjoyed their stay. There isn't anything we could think of that the owner hasn't already cared for. Plenty of bedrooms/beds, the outdoor space is nice with the screened in deck and glamper, and the lake is unbelievable. We used the pontoon for fishing and just riding around the lake to enjoy the scenery. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Great find!
This place not only has great space for family groups (6 bedrooms!) but also had all the extras for fun in the water so we didn’t have to bring anything. Kayaks, pontoon, floaties - it had it all. A glamping tent was also a fun bonus! This allowed enough space for early-to-bed folks and the all-nighters. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Great stay
We found this VRBO to be one of the best we have stayed at. Everyone of us (age 15 to 73) found a plenty to do with inside and outside activities. The waterfront was the center of activity for most of the time with the large variety of water toys and of course the pontoon for fishing, tubing, and just a nice slow cruise around the lake. Inside there was plenty to do with many games too. We found the sloping lot to be somewhat limiting for our elderly family but great exercise for the rest of us.
