"This felt like a family-owned inn (not sure if it is) and the staff were absolutely wonderful. We did the included breakfast and dinner, and the dinners were among the best meals we had during our entire 12-day trip in Japan! This is an older hotel, but you are paying for the location -- absolutely gorgeous on Lake Chuzenji! Okunikko is tiny and I'd recommend doing dinner at the hotel since much of the little town closes in the evenings, once the day trippers head out. I would recommend this hotel to people who like an inn/bed and breakfast sort of smaller establishment. It was a bit outdated, but that didn't bother us. "

"This was my first time in Gunma and i cant believe how luckily i got with this stay. Nice, relaxing stay plus they had bikes so i could explore the area and really enjoy the country side. I liked too that the bathroom had a window i could open and view the nice scenary while taking a hot shower. The owner is a really kind guy that is there to ensure you are having a good time and is always open for a nice conversation. I will definitely be staying here each time im in Gunma and i recommend it to everyone"

"Feels very upmarket from the entrance all the way to the room. The Japanese room I stayed in felt extremely large; like a 5-star hotel in Tokyo. The washbasin area looks modern and is well equipped with amenities, including a face steamer. Separate toilet is large. Bathtub is deep for a good soak with a nice view of the outside. Parking is limited in front so you need to drive further in or up the slope. May be inconvenient if you are alone with heavy luggage and arriving late. Some of the fixtures also need attention as the mixer switch at the bathtub (room 305) was broken with sharp edges; this can be a risk for children, those with poor eyesight or using it in low light. I did not use the hot springs as I spend most of the time exploring the area by car. Highly recommended for couples, lone travellers and small families."

"I stayed in a Capsule but everything was comfortable, all amenities were accessible and plase was clean. Just other guests using the cupsules area were not organized and clean. Area around the lake is beautiful and clean, be aware as everything around the shops and bus stopos around 6pm."

"The room was simply furnished, very clean with comfortable beds. The owner and his wife were very accommodating. It was wonderful to be able to have dinner at the inn, where we dined 3 of our 4 nights. The food was delicious and the portions large. The location was out of the commercial district but close to bus stop #14. "
